Virg Stan was three-sport athlete at Western from 1949 to 1953, but he really starred in football. Stan was a quarterback and punter for the Mountaineers and was named All-RMAC as a quarterback as a sophomore, junior and senior. As a junior, Stan led the Nation in punting with a 45 yard average, finished ninth Nationally in passing and 12th in total offense. He also finished second in the RMAC in scoring with 80 points. He also played one year on the basketball team and two years on the basketball team.
