Hall of Fame
Steve Rieschl, a 1959 graduate of Western State College, competed for the Mountaineers under Community First National Bank Mountaineer Sports Hall of Famer Sven Wiik in ski jumping. Rieschl arrived at WSC in 1955, and helped the Mountaineers to top five team finishes at the NCAA championships twice. Following his career at Western, Rieschl continued to promote the sport of skiing. He authored books, served as a contributing writer for several top skiing publications, and was a member of the US Ski Team. In 1998, Rieschl was inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.
