Mike Zerr wrestled at Western from 1983 to 1987. Zerr was also involved in Student Government at Western and served as a senator at-large. Recruited by WSC Hall of Famer Tracy Borah, Zerr came into his own as a sophomore and finished seventh at the NAIA National Championships to earn All-American honors. As a junior, Zerr earned Colorado Collegiate and RMAC Championships to go along with his NAIA National Championship. Because Western was also affiliated as NCAA Division I in wrestling, Zerr finished second at the Western Athletic Conference Championships and qualified for the NCAA Division I National Championships. As a senior, Zerr went 34-5 and claimed Colorado Collegiate and RMAC Championships and made it back to the NAIA National Championship finals and took second. For his career, Zerr earned one NAIA National Championship, three NAIA All-American honors, two Colorado Collegiate and two RMAC Championships. Zerr also was a three-time NAIA Academic All-American.
