Paul Wright Plaque

PAUL WRIGHT AWARD

The Paul Wright Award is awarded annually to the top male and female senior athlete during the year - first awarded in 1965. Paul Wright was a longtime coach and athletic director at Western Colorado, serving from 1935-63. He coached every men's sport at Western, chaired the committee which planned the first NCAA ski competition (1953-54) and served the Gunnison community as mayor, judge, chair of the Red Cross as well as many other duties. Paul Wright Gymnasium was named after him in 1975.
