Hall of Fame
The 1964 Mountaineer wrestling team, under the guidance of legendary head coach Tracy Borah and assistant coach Tom Hollingshead, earned the NCAA College Division National Championship. The team had a pair of individual national champions in Al Rozman and Bob Hollingshead, both of whom have been inducted into the Community First National Bank Mountaineer Sports Hall of Fame as individuals. Ray Coca finished second at 115 pounds, Van Doughty placed fourth at 123 and Joe Kuhn was third at heavyweight. In addition, several individual wrestlers made significant contributions to the success of the 1964 team. This list includes Terry Ackerson, Gunnison native John Ash, Jerry Bowen, Larry Del Ponte, Lewis Grover, Bill Kaczmarek, Al Keller, Rich Kieffer, Dick Kindsfatter, Bill Lake, James "Buzz" Maisano, Mike Meador, Jess Miller, Joe Oldfield, Mel Raichart, Chuck Reichert, Ed Rozman, Elmer Ruble, Dan Salyer, Truman Sandelin, Ron Sills, Ron Stecklein, Rick Traynor, Jim Wilpott and Jim Wright.
