COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Wednesday released its postseason award list for the 2024 outdoor track & field season, a list that includes 21 Western Colorado student-athletes who achieved 24 all-conference honors.
First-team all-conference awards were earned by 12 Mountaineers, four of whom were first-place finishers in their respective events at the 2024 RMAC outdoor championships.
Ali Aldrich,
Allison Beasley and
Kaiya Firor stood on the top step of the awards podium in the women's events, and
Simon Kelati raced to the top of the podium for the Western men.
Aldrich captured the title in the shot put, Firor won the 400-meter hurdles, and Beasley crossed first in the 3,000m steeplechase. Kelati was the winner of the 1,500m run.
Beasley earned another first-team honor by placing second in the 5,000m run.
Adding a first-team honor for the women was
Sammie Bretz, who placed second in the high jump.
Other first-team honorees on the men's side were by
Tyler Nord in the 1,500 (third place) and 5,000 (second);
Sam Burns with a second place in the 110m hurdles;
Eddie Siuda in the 3,000m steeplechase (second);
Landon Gary in the 400m dash (third); and
Braxton Walk who placed third in the long jump.
Eireann Donohoe earned a pair of second-team all-conference awards, taking fourth in the women's high jump and fifth in the triple jump.
Adding second-team honors were
Leah Taylor in the 1,500 (sixth place),
Sakara Harrison with a fifth place in the 200m dash, and
Regan Thorne in the 100m hurdles (sixth).
Fifth-place finishes by
Logan Butterfield in the hammer throw,
Esteban Deniz in the 5,000 and
Brayden Jones in the pole vault earned the Western men a three second-team all-RMAC honors. And placing sixth in their events earned
Connor Prost (400m),
Colton Stice (800m),
Zac Grable (high jump) and
Patrick Jirele (steeplechase) four more second-team awards.
All-conference honorees Aldrich, Beasley, Donohoe, Firor and Taylor have qualified for and will participate in the May 23-25 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas. Also qualifying in the women's events from Western and heading to Kansas will be
Emma Kjellsen and
Lauren Willson.
Traveling to nationals to represent Western in the men's events will be all-RMAC performers Kelati, Nord and Siuda.
