Biography

2019-20:
Outdoor (Redshirted):
Season canceled due to Covid-19.
Indoor (Freshman): Raced in five meets in her first season as a Mountaineer, setting three personal bests and being part of the winning 4x400 meter relay team at the RMAC Championships. At the 2019 UCCS Invitaional Firor set a personal best in the 200 meter (26.74 seconds) and the 60 meter hurdles (10.00 seconds). At the 2020 Power 5 meet, she won the 400 meter in a PR of 58.47 seconds. Kaiya had five first place finishes in her first season at Western Colorado. 

High School: Kaiya comes to Western from Hotchkiss High School, where she was a four-sport athlete, competing in Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Track. Her athletic achievements include 3x State Champion in the 400m and 300m hurdles for 2017-2019, State record in the 400m at 55.76 and 300m at 44.06, State Champion in the 100m hurdles, State Champion Medley Team 2019, Hotchkiss High School Record in 100m, 200m, 300m hurdles and 400m. CHSAA co-athlete of the year 2019 and athlete of the year in 2019 WSL All Conference for Basketball. When asked why she chose Western, Kaiya said, “I chose Western because it was the perfect mix of everything I was looking for. I get to stay in Colorado, get the degree I want, and it’s the perfect size school for me, and I love the program and the coaching staff.”
