AZUSA, Calif. Western Colorado added four more NCAA provisional marks Saturday on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University, led by
Kaiya Firor's time in the 400-meter hurdles.
Firor crossed the finish with a time of 1 minute, 0.18 seconds, a clocking that as of the close of the Invitational would rank fifth on the NCAA Division II women's performance list.
She was not alone in achieving a provisional mark as teammate Kelia Portis' 1:02.25 surpassed the provisional standard (1:02.36) and ranks 30th nationally.
The women's 1,500m run produced the other provisional times in the late hours of Saturday's event schedule.
Leah Taylor's 4:29.46 and Peyton Weiss' 4:30.62 bettered the standard (4:31.00), with Taylor ranking 33rd and Weiss 44th in the national rankings. Teammate
Emma Kjellsen, ranking 14th in the rankings with a prior time (4:26.18), slid in between the two at the Invitational with a time of 4:29.62.
Simon Kelati and
Tyler Nord, already with provisional marks in the men's 1,500, raced to times at the Bryan Clay of 3:48.14 and 3:52.43, split by
Eddie Siuda's time of 3:51.35, which inches closer to the provisional time of 3:48.91.
Western's split squad on Saturday also saw
Teag Parker hit a personal best in the men's discus throw on Day 1 of the at the Maverick Invite #2 hosted by Colorado Mesa University. Parker spun a throw of 39.07 meters (128 feet-2 inches) for a seventh-place finish at the meet.
