SPEARFISH, S.D. Western Colorado's Women's Distance Medley Relay closed day one of the 2024 Indoor Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a first-place victory. After day one, the Mountaineers' men team is in ninth place with four points after five scored events. The women's team sits in fourth place with 21 points after 6 scored events. Â
The Mountaineers also earned three other all-conference selections and had five athletes qualify for tomorrow's finals. Â
The top-three finishers in each event are named all-conference first-team selections, while the fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers are tabbed all-conference second team. For relay events, the first-place team is named to the first team, and the second-place team is named to the second team.Â
FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCEÂ
The quartet of Emma Kjellsen, Leah Taylor, Kelia Portis and Peyton Weiss finished the race with a time of 11 minutes, 43.17 seconds. Kjellsen, Taylor, Portis and Weiss time was an NCAA provisional time and they finished six seconds faster than the second-place team from Colorado School of Mines. Â

Laura Brignoli earned the Mountaineers' first all-conference honor of the meet after placing third in the pole vault this morning. Brignoli hit a height of 3.68 meters (12 feet -.75 inches), which was .30m behind the second-place finisher. Â
SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCEÂ
Eireann Donohoe placed fourth in the pentathlon on Friday afternoon with an NCAA provisional mark of 3,344 points. In the 60-meter hurdles, the junior finished the race in 9.59 seconds before hitting a height of 1.61m (5-3.38) in the high jump. In the shot put, she threw 9.66m (31-8.31) before having the longest leap in the long jump with 5.41m (17-8.99). She concluded the pentathlon with a time of 2:35.54 in the 800m run. Â
In the men's weight throw, Logan Butterfield placed fifth with a throw of 18.38m (60-3.50) which is an NCAA provisional mark and was just 1.17m behind the first-place finisher. Â
MOVING ONTO THE FINALSÂ
Regan Thorne will represent the Mountaineers in the 60m hurdles final tomorrow afternoon after she was second in her preliminary heat with a time of 9.04. The freshman will be seeded sixth in a field of athletes from Adams State, Chadron State, Black Hills State, UCCS, New Mexico Highlands and MSU Denver. In the men's 60m hurdles the duo of CJ Davis, Sam Burns will head to the track for the finals tomorrow. Davis qualified at 8.30, while his counterpart ion Burns finished the race with 8.36. Â
Kaiya Firor hit a provisional mark in the prelims of the women's 400m where she will be the top seed going into tomorrow's finals. Firor won the third heat of prelims with a time of 56.84. Landon Gary is seeded third in the men's 400m finals after finishing the prelims with a time of 50.08. Â
