GUNNISON, Colo. The Mountaineers shined in the field events at the final day of the Don Kirby Invite in Albuquerque, N.M. Laura Brignoli set a new school record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.83 meters (12 feet- 6.75 inches). Brignoli also placed first in the event, besting 12 other athletes including 11 NCAA DI pole vaulters.
Brignoli is the second Mountaineer to set a new Western Colorado record as Kaiya Firor reset the record in the 200m dash on day one of the invite with a time of 24.73 seconds, which is also an NCAA Division II provisional record.
DON KIRBY INVITE DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Emma Kjellsen ran a career-best in the 800m with a time of 2 minutes, 10.82 seconds, where she placed 10th and was the third NCAA Division II athlete to finish the race. She was just five seconds being the first-place runner and just 1.25 seconds behind the first NCAA Division II finisher. Her latest mark moves her up to 15th on the NCAA DII performance list.
- Eireann Donohoe had another successful showing the triple jump with a mark of 11.78m (38-7.75) as she had the highest mark of all the NCAA Division II athletes in the field.

The Mountaineers will host their final regular season meet, the Western Colorado Open on Friday, February 16, before heading to Spearfish, S.D., for the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
