COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Western Colorado traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo., on Saturday to compete in the CRC UCCS Invite. Laura Brignoli received the Mountaineers' single NCAA Division II provisional mark in the pole vault with a height of 3.72-meters (12 feet-2.5 inches).  Times are pending official conversions for altitude. The Mountaineers placed first and second in the women's high jump with Nykole Meshew placing first with height of 1.65m (5-5) followed by Sammie Bretz in second place with a mark of 1.60m (5-3). Kaiya Firor earned a second-place finish in the 200m race with a time of 25.42, which was just .01 seconds behind the first-place finisher. Â

Western Colorado had strong performances in the field on the men's side, as Logan Butterfield and Nolan Kemper placed second in their respective events. Butterfield placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 17.66m (57-11.25), while Kemper jumped 13.85m (45-5.25) in the triple jump. Â

Branden Davis represented the Mountaineers in the 3,000m and finished in second with a time of 8:46.75. Bryce Kizewski finished in second in the 800m with a time of 1:58.06, finishing just two seconds behind the first-place finisher. Noe Garcia clocked a time of 53 seconds in the 400m, which was, .64 seconds behind the winner. Edwin Siuda earned a first-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:24.09 in his first indoor meet for the Mountaineers.Â

The Mountaineers will be back on the front range next weekend, as they travel to Golden, Colo., for the Mines Winter Classic. This is a two-day event that will begin on Friday, January 26 and end on Saturday, Jan. 27. Times have yet to be announced.
