GREELEY, Colo. – Former Western State Colorado University men's basketball player Jeff Linder has been named the 19
th University of Northern Colorado men's basketball head coach Sunday afternoon.

Linder takes over for the Bears after spending the last six seasons at Boise State where he was the Associate Head Coach for the past three seasons. Previous to that, Linder had stints of assistant coaching for the University of Colorado, Weber State, the University of San Francisco, and Midland Junior College.

Linder, a graduate of Centaurus High School in Lafayette, came to Western as a transfer after one season at Mesa State College. Linder played three seasons under head coach Bob Hofman, earning All-RMAC honors all three seasons. Linder played alongside current head coach
Bradd Schafer and Mountaineer Hall of Fame member Travis Bradley.

"I am so excited for Jeff and his family," said Schafer. "Jeff had a great playing career as a Mountaineer and I couldn't be happier for him. He was a tremendous teammate and we have always remained great friends. He will do great things for the University of Northern Colorado."
