KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its 2025–26 Division II All-District Teams and District Coaches of the Year, with honors voted on by NABC-member coaches across the country.
Representing the Mountaineers, sophomore guard
Aidan McDowell earned second-team All-District recognition in the South-Central Region, adding yet another accolade to his standout season.
McDowell was previously named first-team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and earned D2CCA first-team All-Region honors, solidifying his place among the top performers in Division II.
One of the most dependable players in the conference, McDowell excelled at the free-throw line, shooting an impressive 90.1% (201-of-223), the third-best mark in the RMAC. His 201 made free throws were nearly 50 more than any other player in the conference—a testament to both his consistency and aggressive play.
He also ranked ninth in the RMAC in three-point percentage at 38% and proved to be an ironman for the Mountaineers, leading the conference in minutes played at 37.4 per game.
Offensively, McDowell was dominant throughout the season. He scored 30 or more points in nine games and topped the 20-point mark in 25 of Western's 28 contests. Starting all 28 games, he led the RMAC in field goals made with 227—finishing 41 ahead of the next closest player.
McDowell's combination of durability, efficiency, and scoring ability made him one of the most impactful players in the region and a cornerstone of the Mountaineers' success this season.
