Track & Field has Successful Final Day at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational

PUEBLO, Colo.   The Mountaineer Track and Field Team finish strong on Day 2 of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational.
 
The first field event to kick off Day 2 of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio invitational was men's shot put. Two Mountaineers earned spots in the top twenty, Jacob Doyle placed 14th throwing 13.75m (45 feet-6.75 inches) then Ethan VanMeter finished 18th (13.52m (44 feet-4.25 inches). Doyle also competed in the men's discus with a 7th place finish, 44.75m (146 feet-9.75 inches).
 
The Women's Discus had a top three finish. Katrina Trahan threw 42.98m (141 feet) for a 2nd place recognition. Lindsey Osterfelt wasn't far behind, in 10th, throwing 40.09m (131 feet-6.25 inches). Later in the day Osterfelt participated in the women's shot put, throwing 11.60m (38 feet-.25 inches) securing 5th place.
 
One Mountaineer participated in the women's long jump, Gaby Huggins. Her final jump put her in 4th place (5.48m (17 feet-11.25 inches).
 
The fifth field event of the day saw Kendall Morrison in the women's high jump. Morrison jumped 1.50 (4 feet-11inches) putting her in 8th place.
 
Men's long jump followed, seeing Tarryn Moore with a 6th place finish after jumping 6.59m (21 feet-7.25 inches).
 
The final field even for the Mountaineers was the men's high jump. Zac Grable represented WCU, taking 5th place with a final jump of 1.85m (6 feet-.75 inches).
 
The women's 10,000 meters kicked off the running events for the day. Emma Berg placed first for WCU in 5th with a time of thirty-eight minutes and one second. Gretchen Slattum was right on her tail, finishing 6th with a time of 38:12.48. Milliseconds after, Lacey Kunz crossed the finish line in 7th (38:12.80).
 
Following the women, the men ran the 10,000 meters. Jacob Tyburski earned 8th place, recording a time of 31:02.77. Branden Davis finished second after him in 10th place (31:17.10).
 
Finally, Ainsley Rosenow and Kendall Morrison competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Rosenow took 20th (16.50), a few spots later Morrison earned 26th (17.77).
 

UP NEXT
The Mountaineers Track & Field team will head back to Pueblo, Colo. to compete in the Spank Blasing Invite on Friday March 28 and Saturday March 29.
