Event Schedule
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Western Colorado's indoor track & field teams are set to compete in their second meet of the season, traveling to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs for Saturday's Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite.
The Mountaineers opened the indoor schedule with their own meet in early December 2024, and with Saturday's meet begin to roll more heavily into the competition schedule.
Several of Western's athletes competing at the meet will be chasing qualifying standards for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis on March 13-15.
In the sprints,
Myia Dantzler and
Kelia Portis will step into the blocks of the 60-meter dash, chasing the NCAA provisional time of 7.63 seconds. The duo will also race the oval in the 400m dash, looking to surpass the provisional time of 56.66 seconds.
Will Stone and
James Duncan will compete in the men's 400, their provisional mark a time of 48.42 seconds.
Dantzler, Portis, Stone and Duncan will be members of their respective 4x400 relays. The women's provisional in the event is 3 minutes, 51.74 seconds, and the men's mark is 3:16.11.
Sammie Bretz and
Nykole Meshew will leap into the women's high jump event for Western. The pair look to clear the provisional height of 1.67 meters (5 feet-5.75 inches).
In the horizontal jumps,
Eireann Donohoe is entered in the women's long and triple jumps, and
Braxton Walk and
Zac Grable will compete in the men's long jump. Donohoe will try to post a leap of at least 5.70m (18-8.5) in the long jump and 11.72m (44-10.25) in the triple, while Walk and Grable are chasing a mark of 7.16m (23-6) in the men's long jump.
In the field events,
Logan Butterfield has his eyes on the provisional distance of 18.20m in the men's weight throw.
Saturday's meet is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. with field events, and at 12:30 p.m. with the running events.
