GOLDEN, Colo. After starting off on a strong note at the Kit Mayer Classic on Friday, Western Colorado continued to have success on the final day (Apr. 8) racking up 22 top-five finishes, five top-ten all-time performances and four provisional qualifying marks.
NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING MARKS
- Building onto the stellar performance she had on day one, Ali Aldrich earned a provisional qualifying mark in the women's hammer with a throw of 52.94m (173-08), earning fourth-place. That mark was the best among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition and is sixth all-time.
- Earing the top two spots and a pair of provisional qualifying times. Kaiya Firor and Kelia Portis came in first and second-place in the women's 400m hurdles, posting times of 1:00.84 (converted from 1:00.73) and 1:02.30 (converted from 1:02.19). Portis time of 1:02.19 moves her up to sixth all-time.
- Sammie Bretz moved up to ninth all-time, in the women's high jump, clearing a provisional qualifying height of 1.68m (5-06.00), which earned her second-place.
TOP-TEN ALL TIME MARK
TOP-FIVE FINISHES
- The Mountaineers in the men's 10,000m, had four of the top-five finishes. Leading the way was Jacob Tyburski in first-place (32:09.55), Robert Scott in third (32:38.33), Daniel Carr in fourth (33:24.60) and Will Johnson in fifth (33:34.39).
- Taking home, the gold in the men's 4x400m relay – Ja'Warren Smith, Ethan Coyhis, Joseph Wilkins, and Kennedy Martinez, ran a solid race resulting in them crossing the finish line in a time of 3:19.89.
- Lauren Smith earned a second-place finish in the women's pole vault, recording a mark of 3.82m (12-06.25).
- In the women's triple jump, Eireann Donohoe earned a second-place finish, leaping to a distance of 11.78m (38-07.75).
- Coming in third-place in the men's discus, Tyler Nelson recorded a distance of 49.00m (160-09).
- Finishing in a time of 1:56.25, Ryan Outler earned third-place in the men's 800m.
- In the men's 100m, Ja'Warren Smith flew around the track and came in at a time of 10.79, earning him fourth-place.
- The Mountaineers earned a pair of top-five finishes in the women's 100m, as Myia Dantzler came in fourth-place (12.32) and Cora Olson came in fifth-place (12.51).
- In the women's discus, Lindsey Osterfelt recorded a fourth-place finish with a toss of 41.40m (135-10).
- Coming in fourth-place in the men's 400m, Ethan Coyhis crossed the finish line in a time of 48.65.
- In the men's pole vault, Timothy Ellis cleared a height of 4.45m (14-07.25) which earned him fourth-place.
- Recording a fifth-place finish, Caden Church cleared a height of 1.92m (6-03.50) in the men's high jump.
- In the women's 10,000m, Lacey Kunz recorded a fifth-place finish by crossing the line in a time of 39:24.39.
