AZUSA, Calif. Western Colorado continued the trend of impressive performances on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational - wrapping up the final day with nine personal best times, three provisional marks and another school record broken.
SCHOOL RECORD
- Already second all-time in the women's 400m hurdles entering today's race. Kaiya Firor decided it was time for her to move to number one, as she was blazing around the track in the 400m hurdles – setting a new school record of 59.91. That time is also a provisional qualifying time and earned her eighth-place out of 65 runners.
- After breaking the school record in the 400m hurdles, Firor had another impressive race in the 200m dash. When Firor's foot crossed the finish line, the clock read 24.54, which moves her up to third all-time.
NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING MARKS
- Allison Beasley continues to standout every time she steps onto the track, this time earing a personal record and provisional qualifying time of 4:27.84, in the women's 1,500m. That time also moves her to sixth all-time.
- Leah Taylor also shined in the women's 1,500m, earning a provisional qualifying and personal best time of 4:29.21.
TOP-TEN ALL-TIME
- Simon Kelati moved up to eighth all-time in the men's 1,500m, cruising around the track and crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 3:46.45.
PERSONAL BEST TIME
- Emma Kjellsen had a spectacular race in the women's 1,500m, pacing herself to a personal best time of 4:37.62.
- The men's 1,500m race was a good one for Western, as all three athletes achieved personal best times. Albert Hesse was the first to cross coming in at 3:53.88, then was followed by Aidan Scott (3:54.33), and Patrick Jirele (3:54.98).
UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will be back in action at 11 a.m., tomorrow (Apr. 16) wrapping up the CMU Invite #2. The shot put and high jump will be the first events Western will compete in.
