GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado will look to finish the season out on a positive note, returning to Paul Wright Gym this week to take on Fort Lewis College (Feb. 10) at 7:30 p.m., and Adams State (Feb. 11) at 7 p.m.

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS | RMAC STATS
- Western hasn't had much go their way this season. However, the Mountaineers have fought and emptied the tank in every game they have played this season. At the moment they are sitting in 15th place (1-15) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) standings, with six games left in the season.
- Avery Rembao is the top scorer for the Mountaineers this season averaging 15.8-points (ninth in RMAC) and gets help from Robel Desta who averages 13.1-points (17th in RMAC). Rembao makes a team high 36.9 percent from the field (24th in RMAC) and Desta sinks a team high 79.7 percent from the free throw line (ninth in RMAC). A few spots down is Rembao who makes 76.9 percent (14th in RMAC) from the line.
- Leading the team in rebounding, Gino Corridori grabs 7.3 rebounds on average which is fourth best in the RMAC. Desta also gets after it on the glass, grabbing 5.6 rebounds (tied for tenth in RMAC). Tied for seventh in blocked shots, Desta averages 0.6 blocks in RMAC contest.
- As a team, Western has the 15th ranked offense scoring 66.1-points and the 14th ranked defense giving up 79.7-points in RMAC contest. The Mountaineers shoot 37.9 percent from the field (15th in RMAC), 31 percent from three (14th in RMAC) and 74.3 percent from the free throw line (seventh in RMAC).
SKYHAWKS SOARING HIGH
- There haven't been many teams in the RMAC who have been able to slow down Fort Lewis this season, as they currently are in second-place (14-2) in the RMAC standings. There only two losses came against Colorado Mesa and Westminster College.
- Akuel Kot has been key for the Skyhawks success this season averaging 22.1-points (fourth in RMAC) in RMAC contest. While Kot is their leading scorer, JaQuaylon Mays is leading the team in field goal percentage making 49.7 percent (12th in RMAC) and is followed by Kot who makes 47.1 percent (16th in RMAC). From beyond the arc, Kot leads the team making 34.6 percent (14th in RMAC) and at the free throw line he sinks a team high 83.5 percent (seventh in RMAC). Brendan Boatwright is also solid at the line, making 79.3 percent (tenth in RMAC).
- When it comes to defense, Brendan La Rose is tied for one of the best in the RMAC when it comes to blocking shots, recording 1.4 blocks in RMAC contest. Mays is a problem for opposing ballhandlers recording 1.4 steals (tied for sixth in RMAC) on average. When it comes to grabbing rebounds, Mays and Boatwright are tied with 5.6 boards which is tied for tenth in the RMAC.
- As a team, Fort Lewis has the second ranked offense averaging 81.4-points and the seventh ranked defense giving up 72.9-points (seventh in RMAC). The Skyhawks shoot 46.8 percent from the field (fifth in RMAC), 36.8 percent from three (sixth in RMAC) and 73.5 percent from the free throw line (tenth in RMAC). Â
GRIZZLIES ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
- Adams State will look to finish the season on a positive note since they have no shot to make the RMAC tournament, currently in 14th place (2-15) in the RMAC standings. The Grizzlies did have one thing positive happen recently when they upset CSU Pueblo 80-68, ending their 13-game losing streak. But, they did lose 73-100 to Fort Lewis on Tuesday (Feb. 7).
- Kolby Walker shoulders a good chunk of the scoring for Adams State averaging 15.1-points (11th in RMAC) in RMAC contest. Leading the team in field goal percentage, Maison Adeleye makes 50.6 percent of his shots (eighth in RMAC). Despite not leading the team in field goal percentage, Walker leads the team from beyond the arc, making 39 percent (ninth in RMAC) and at the free throw line sinking 84.9 percent (fifth in RMAC).
- Tied for fourth in blocked shots, Isaiah Sampson averages 0.9 blocks and gets help from Kaleb Mitchell and Liam Canty who both average 0.6 blocks (tied for seventh in RMAC). Sampson is also the leading rebounder for the Grizzlies grabbing 5.4 rebounds (12th in RMAC). Adeleye and Walker are also a factor on defense when it comes to getting steals. Adeleye recording 1.2 steals (tied for eighth) and Walker recording 1.1 (tied for ninth).
- As a team, Adams State has the tenth ranked offense averaging 72.5-points and 15th ranked defense giving up 83.8-points. The Grizzlies shoot, 41.4 percent from the field (14th in RMAC), 32.7 percent from three (12th in RMAC) and 74 percent from the free throw line (ninth in RMAC).
