Mountaineers earn three provisional qualifying marks against stiff competition

MANKATO, Minn. Facing some tough competition at the Minnesota State Massive Meet #1,Western Colorado still found a way to shine and standout among their competition. 
 
NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING MARKS
  • Ali Aldrich had the best finish for the women in the weight throw, coming in second-place with a provisional qualifying throw of 17.72m (58-01.75). That mark is third all-time – improving her previous third all-time mark of 57-10.50. Aldrich also competed in the shot put where she came in third-place with a heave of 13.90m (45-07.25).
  • In the women's 400m, Kaiya Firor earned a provisional qualifying time of 56.83, which is currently third best in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), as of February 10. Additionally, that time earned her sixth-place in the event.
  • Bryce Lucas had the best finish for the men, coming in second-place in the 60m with a provisional qualifying time of 6.84 seconds. As of February 10, that time is third best in the RMAC.
TOP-10 ALL-TIME MARK
  • Moving to ninth all-time in the women's 400m, Kiarra Lapp flew down the track and came in at 58.69 seconds.
IMPROVING SEASON BEST
  • Despite not finishing where they wanted to in the women's 200m, Mikayla Hutchison and Myia Dantzler both improved their time in the event. Hutchison crossed the line in 25.65 and Dantzler was not far behind finishing in 26.08 seconds.
