CHADRON, Neb. / LAKEWOOD, Colo. Western Colorado hasn't had things bounce their way this season. However, the Mountaineers will look to bounce back this week when the take on Chadron State College (Jan. 28) and Colorado Christian University (Feb. 2).
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS | RMAC STATS
  • Western will look to snap their six-game losing streak, currently sitting in 14th place (1-13) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) standings.
  • Avery Rembao and Robel Desta are the top scorers for the Mountaineers both averaging 14.3-points in RMAC contest (tied for 12th in RMAC). At the free throw line, Desta leads the team making 80.8 percent (ninth in RMAC) and a few spots down is Rembao who makes 75.7 percent (tied for 15th in RMAC). From beyond the arc Jaelan McCloud is the team's best shooter making 43.8 percent and from the field, Desta leads the team making 36.9 percent.
  • On the defensive side, Gino Corridori is the best rebounder on the team snatching 7.3 rebounds (seventh in RMAC) and sitting in 12th in the RMAC is Desta grabbing 6.3 rebounds. The best rim protector on the team, Desta blocks 0.6 shots (tied for eighth in RMAC).
  • As a team, the Mountaineers have the 15th ranked offense scoring 64.6-points and 13th ranked defense giving up 78.1-points. Western shoots, 37.3 percent from the field (15th in RMAC), 31 percent from three (14th in RMAC) and 72.9-percent (11th in RMAC).
EAGLES LOOK TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK
  • Things have been going good for Chadron State lately, winning their last five games which has them sitting in fifth-place (10-5) in the RMAC standings.
  • The Eagles are led by the trio of Isaiah Wyatt, Josh Robinson and Bryce Latimer who are the top-three scorers for Chadron State. Wyatt scores 15.1-points (tenth in RMAC), Robinson 14.1-points (13th in RMAC) and Latimer 13.4-points (15th in RMAC). Robinson leads the team in field goal percentage, making 57.5 percent (second in RMAC), while Patrick McLachlan leads the team from beyond the arc sinking 42.6 percent (fifth in RMAC). Right behind McLachlan is Wyatt who makes 41.3 percent (sixth in RMAC). At the free throw line Chadron State is led by Latimer who makes 84.5 percent.
  • On defense, Marcus Jefferson leads the team in steals recording 1.4 (tied for sixth in RMAC) and is followed by MJ Foust who averages 1.1 (tied for ninth in RMAC). When it comes to grabbing rebounds, Robinson leads the team with 8.1, which is fourth in the RMAC. Sitting at 12th in the RMAC in rebounds, Wyatt grabs 5.9 boards.
  • As a team, Chadron State has the fifth ranked offense scoring 75.5-points and sixth ranked defense giving up 72-points. The Eagles shoot, 44.7 percent from the field (eighth in RMAC), 36.7 percent from three (fourth in RMAC) and 73 percent from the free throw line (tenth in RMAC).
COUGARS LOOK TO GET BACK ON TRACK
  • Colorado Christian will attempt to snap their two-game losing streak on Saturday (Feb. 2) after losing 76-88 to Chadron State on Tuesday. With the loss, the Cougars sit in 13th place (4-11) in the RMAC standings.
  • Jason Gallant is the top scorer for the Colorado Christian averaging 13.9-points (14th in RMAC) and has been getting help from DJ McDonald who scores 13.2-points (tied for 17th in RMAC). Noah Kon leads the team from the field, making 49.5 percent (11th in RMAC). From beyond the arc, McDonald is 13th in the RMAC making 33 percent. At the free throw line, Gallant leads the RMAC making 94 percent.
  • Defensively, Maro Egodotaye is the top shot blocker on the team, blocking one shot a game (tied for fourth in RMAC). A few spots down, Isaiah Alonzo blocks 0.7 shots which is tied for seventh in the RMAC. Kon is also a factor on the defensive end, recording 1.4 steals, that is currently tied for sixth in the RMAC. On the glass, Alonzo has been getting after it this season snatching 7.4 boards (tied for sixth in RMAC).
  • As a team, Colorado Christian has the 14th ranked offense averaging 65.6-points and eighth ranked defense giving up 74.9-points. The Cougars shoot, 42.3 percent from the field (13th in RMAC), 32.5 percent from three (tied for 12th in RMAC), and 71.1 percent from the free throw line (13th in RMAC).
