COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced the Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Preseason polls this morning and the Mountaineers rank fifth in the women's preseason poll and the men's team is ranked sixth headed into the season.
The Mountaineers finished the 2022-23 season with five athletes earning All-American honors including Ali Aldrich, Leah Taylor, Simon Kelati, Tyler Nord and Kaiya Frior , who all return for the Mountaineers this season. At the RMAC Championships last season, Western Colorado's women placed second, while the men's squad placed fifth. Four individuals were named RMAC Champions while 17 all-conference honors were earned by Western Colorado athletes. Thirteen Mountaineers earned United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association South Central All-Region Honors. Allison Beasley, Michael Grabowski and Albert Hesse all earned All-American distinctions at last season's national meet.
The Mountaineers begin their season by spitting up the team and half will go to the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite and Multi in Colorado Springs, Colo., on December 8th and 9th. while Western will also host the Mountaineer Open on Dec. 9.
