ALAMOSA, Colo. The women's and men's mile shined today (Jan. 28) for Western Colorado, producing five NCAA provisional qualifying marks. In total the Mountaineers had seven provisional qualifying marks and four athletes move up on the top-ten all-time list.

NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING MARKS
- Earning the first provisional qualifying mark at the Wes Lavong Invitational, Sammie Bretz came in first place in the women's high jump clearing a height of 1.71m (five-feet, seven-and-a-quarter-inch). That mark also moves her up one spot on the all-time list putting her tied for fourth.
- Crossing the finish line first in the men's one mile, Tyler Nord earned a provisional qualifying time of 4:03.40 - converted from 4:17.36 -and not too far behind, also earning a provisional qualifying time was Ryan Outler who came in third-place in a time of 4:04.88, converted from 4:18.92.
- The women's one mile produced three provisional qualifying times. Allison Beasley who took home her first, first-place finish of the season recording a provisional qualifying time of 4:50.74, converted from 5:06.54. -0.22 seconds from coming in second-place was Katie Doucette who earned her provisional qualifying time crossing the line in a time of 4:51.62, converted from 5:07.47, which earned her third-place. Last and certainly not least, Leah Taylor time of 4:56.95 – converted from 5:13.09 - was good enough for her to ear
- The final provisional qualifying time came from Michael Grabowski, who earned himself a second-place finish in the men's 3,000m, by crossing the finish line in a provisional time of 8:14.63, converted from 8:45.72.
TOP-10 ALL-TIME MARK
- Moving up to sixth all-time, Jada Hynds came in second place in the women's 60m recording a time of 7.74-seconds.
- Sitting now at eighth all-time Kelia Portis finished four in the women's 400m in a time of 58.40.
- Blaine Fisher came in third place with a toss of 16.25m (53-03.75), which moves him to ninth all-time.
TOP-THREE FINISHES
- Regan Thorne and Clara Tuti represented Western well in the women's 60m hurdle, Thorne coming in first place (9.11) and Tuti right behind her in second place (9.18).
- In the men's weight throw, Logan Butterfield earned his third first place finish of the season, recording a mark of 16.97m (55-08.25).Â
- Similar to the men's weight throw, Ali Aldrich came in first place with a mark of 17.49m (57-04.75) and coming in third place was Krystal Wortham who had a mark of 16.13m (52-11.00). Aldrich also came in first-place in the women's shot put, recording a distance of 14.05m (46-01.25).
- Olivia Kaiser and Emma Berg took the first two spots in the women's 5,000m, Kaiser crossing the line first in a time of 19:59.25 and on her heels in second Berg with a time of 20:12.67.
- Emerie Rios came in first-place in the women's triple jump, jump a distance of 10.02m (31-10.50).
- In the men's pole vault, Burke Ewing did his thing coming in first place, clearing a height of 4.26m (13-11.75).
- Caden Church won the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.99m (6-06.25) and coming in second-place was Braxton Walk who had a mark of 1.84m (6-00.50).
- Recording second and third-place finishes in the women's 800m, Lauren Willson crossed the finish line in a time of 2:19.31 and was followed by Abbey Mohan who came in behind her at 2:22.49.
- In the men's triple jump, Ismael Dembele came close to his personal best (14.56m), leaping a distance of 14.54m (47-08.50), which earned him second-place.
- Ethan Coyhis and Bryce Kizewski were on each other's heels in the men's 800m, Coyhis coming in second-place (1:56.31) and Kizewski coming in third-place (1:57.61).
- In the men's 200m, Ja'Warren Smith crossed the finish line in a time of 22.56, which was good enough to earn him second-place.
- In the women's 3,000m, Haley Wood came in second-place crossing the line in a time of 11:50.99.
- Earning a second-place finish in the women's 400m, Kaiya Firor crossed the line in a time of 57.72.
- Kyle Partin in the men's 5,000m crossed the finish line in a time of 16:01.08, which earned him second place.
- In the men's long jump Scott Grable leaped to a distance of 6.70m (21-11.75) leading to him coming in second place.
- Ainsley Rosenow earned a second-place finish in the women's high jump, recording a mark of 1.55m (5-01.00).
- In the women's long jump Cora Olson and Raquel Moore recorded second and third-place finishes, with a mark of 5.40m (17-08.75) for Olson and 5.20m (17-00.75).
- For the relay teams, the men's 4x400m relay – Smith, Kizewski, Bryce Lucas, Coyhis  -  came out on top, crossing the finish line in a time of 3:23.79. For the women's 4x400 relay – Kelia Portis, Mikayla Hutchison, Kiarra Lapp, Lauren Willson- they came in second-place, recording a time of 4:03.20

Western will be back on the road next week, when they compete in the Mines Winter Classic in Golden, Colorado on Friday (Feb. 3) and Saturday (Feb. 4).
