LAS VEGAS, N.M. / PUEBLO, Colo. Coming off their first win of the season against South Dakota Mines, Western Colorado will look to extend their winning streak to three games this weekend. The Mountaineers will take on New Mexico Highlands on Friday (Jan. 13) at 7 p.m. and CSU Pueblo on Saturday (Jan. 14) at 7:30 p.m.

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS | RMAC STATS | RMAC STANDINGS
- Western has started to click as of late, resulting in them picking up their first victory – final scorer, 81-79 - of the season on Saturday (Jan. 7) against South Dakota Mines. The Mountaineers also came very close to pulling of the upset against No. 3 Black Hills State the night before (Jan. 6), losing 73-78. With the win this past weekend, Western moved up to 14th place (1-7) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
- Similar to where the Mountaineers sit in the standings, Western has the 14th ranked offense in the RMAC, scoring 67.6-points in RMAC contest. Robel Desta and Avery Rembao have been the top scorers for the Mountaineers this season, Desta scoring 16.4-points (tied for seventh in RMAC) and Rembao pitching in with 14.8-points (10th in RMAC). Desta is also leading the team in shooting and free throw percentage, making 40 percent from the field (17th in RMAC) and 85.4 percent from the line (fifth in RMAC). Rembao is second on the team in free throw percentage making 78 percent (13th in RMAC).
- On the defensive end, Western has the 12th ranked defense giving up 80.1-points. Gino Corridori and Desta are the leading rebounders for the Mountaineers so far this season, Corridori grabbing 7.8 boards (fifth in RMAC) and Desta two spots down grabbing 7.3 boards. Additionally, Desta is the best shot blocker on the team, blocking 0.9 shots (sixth in RMAC).
- As a whole, the Mountaineers shoots 37.1 percent from the field (15th in RMAC), 29.9 percent from three (13th in RMAC) and 73.1 percent from the line (eighth in RMAC). Â
COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Things haven't been going good for New Mexico Highlands lately as they are currently on a four-game losing streak. They recently lost 56-76 to No. 10 Colorado School of Mines and 66-68 to CSU Pueblo. With those pair of losses, they currently are 12th (4-7) in the RMAC standings.
- Offensively, the Cowboys have the 12th ranked offense scoring 69.5-points in RMAC contest. Dante Moses is the top scorer for New Mexico Highlands and one of the top scorers in the RMAC averaging 25.7-points (second in RMAC). Moses is also the leading field goal percentage shooter for the Cowboys, making 54.8 percent (tied for fourth in RMAC), and free throw percentage shooter, making 75 percent (tied for 15th in RMAC).
- Coming in ranked ninth in the RMAC on defense, New Mexico Highlands gives up 75.1-points. Moses is the teams leading rebounder for the Cowboys, grabbing 7.5 boards (sixth in RMAC). When it comes to blocking shots, Ezichi Kalu leads the RMAC with 1.4 blocks. Not too far down, Tyler Rodgers is tied for fifth in the RMAC in blocked shots with 1.0. Causing turnovers at a high rate, TJ Sanchez is tied for third in the RMAC in steals with 1.9. Moses is also a factor in the steal's category recording 1.1 steals (tied for 10th in RMAC).
- As a whole, New Mexico Highlands shoots 44.5 percent from the field (eighth in RMAC), 28.2 percent from three (14th in RMAC) and 74.4 percent from the line (sixth in RMAC).
THUNDEWOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- CSU Pueblo got back on track this past weekend after being on a two-game losing streak, defeating New Mexico Highlands 68-66. With that win the they currently sit in ninth place (4-6) in the RMAC standings. Â
- On the offensive side of things, the Thunderwolves have the 13th ranked offense scoring 68-points in RMAC contest. Makiah Morris is the top scorer for CSU Pueblo scoring 11.9-points in RMAC contest. The lone Thunderwolve cracking the top-25 in percentages, Lian Ramiro makes 80 percent from the free throw line (tied for ninth in RMAC).
- Making it tough for opposing teams to score, CSU Pueblo gives up 70.7-points (fifth in RMAC) in RMAC contest. Isaiah Thompson is one of the top rebounders in the RMAC, grabbing 9.1 rebounds, second best in the RMAC. The Thunderwolves have a trio of players they rely on to block shots, Meekness Payne and De'Shaun Cooper being the top shot blockers each recording 0.9 blocks (tied for sixth). The third player blocking 0.8 shots (tied for seventh in RMAC) is Elijah Moleon. In terms on causing turnovers, Morris leads the team with 1.5 steals Causing 1.5 turnovers in RMAC contest, Morris leads in steals which is tied for seventh in RMAC.
- As a whole, CSU Pueblo shoots 46.3 percent from the field (sixth in RMAC), 33.3 percent from three (12th in RMAC) and 70.5 percent from the line (13th in RMAC).
