Western Alum Rohrbaugh joins track & field staff

GUNNISON, Colo. Mountaineer athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Western Alum Connor Rohrbaugh, as the new assistant throws coach for the track and field program.

Head coach Lindsey Grasmik is excited to have Rohrbaugh join her staff and had this to say about him.

"We are very excited to welcome Connor back to Western. He is an incredibly hard worker and will bring great energy to our program. Connor has a very diverse background in the throws and his ability to connect with athletes will make him a phenomenal addition to our staff!"
 
Since he has graduated from Western, he has further his education in the field of exercise and sport science. He has since graduated and earned his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning) certification, and has attended multiple continued education courses such as the NSCA National Conference events & Z-Health Neurological and Mental Training courses.
 
Professionally, he has been working as an Athletics coach in various sports for athletes between the ages of 8 and 30 years of age. He has been working as a personal trainer, and worked as an assistant throws coach & strength and conditioning coach at Broomfield High School through an internship opportunity.
 
Athletically, he has been and currently is training, coaching, and competing as an Olympic Weightlifter, traveling the country with his weightlifting team, Attitude Nation Barbell Club. He has competed on multiple National Level stages, earned top 10 honors at these competitions, and currently ranked in the top 40 for his weight class in the entire country.
 
Recently, he won the Colorado State Championships and has won best male lifter in various local competitions. He also coached many athletes in local and national level competitions.
 
Rohrbaugh also has gotten engaged to the love of his life, Cierra Redding, whom I met at Western and they will be getting married in late September of this year. "We are both absolutely ecstatic to be back home in Gunnison and to be back with Western," said Rohrbaugh.
 
During his time at Western, he placed third (2018), sixth (2016) and seventh (2017) in the hammer throw at the RMAC Outdoor Championships. Currently, holds the sixth best mark all-time in the hammer throw with a mark of 177-10, which he achieved in 2018. Academically, he was a three-time Academic All-American.
