ALLENDALE, Mich. Katie Doucette made sure the Western Colorado track and field team ended the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on a strong note – earning All-American honors in the women's 5,000-meter run by coming in eighth-place.
Doucette entered the event ranked 13th out of 24 runners. Yet, hovered around seventh / eighth-place for the majority of the race – briefly dropping down to ninth-place at the 3,400m mark. She would jump to seventh-place for a brief moment and then went on to maintain eighth-place for the final three laps.
When her foot crossed the finish line, the time on the clock read 16-minutes, 24.06-seconds.
This is Doucette's third All-American honor earned this track and field season – earning All-American status in the women's 3,000m and 5,000m during the indoor track and field season.
Additionally, Doucette racked up four All-American honors during the 2021-22 athletic season, also earning All-American honors during the 2021 cross country season.
FINAL DAY RECAP
Cade Michael was the first runner to take the track for the Mountaineers competing in the men's 5,000m on the final day of the 2022 NCAA Track and Field Championships. Michael gave it his all. But, things just didn't go his way as he finished in 19th-place (14-minutes, 38.19 seconds).
