GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. --- Western Colorado track and field concludes the Maverick Sun Classic as both the men and women's teams finish second in the team scoring. The Mountaineers had a solid meet as one school record fell, along with three facility records, four provisional marks were met, and three Western Colorado top ten performances were set.

The highlight of the meet came from
Graham Butcher who set a new school record in the men's javelin with a throw of 61.45-meters (201' 7.25"). Butcher won the event and set the facility record in the process. His mark of 61.45-meters gives him a provisional mark that currently ranks him No. 17 in division two.

Jessica Cusick dominated the competition in the women's 800-meter clocking a time of 2:09.03, giving her the fourth fastest performance in school history. Cusick's time converted to 2:08.40 to give her a provisional time and currently ranks her No. 5 in division two.

Winning the women's 400-meter hurdles and clocking the second fastest time in school history was Mountaineer
Kaiya Firor, as she crossed the line in 1:01.10. Her time converts to 1:01.21, currently placing her No. 12 in division two.

On the distance side,
Simon Kelati ran a provisional time in the men's 5,000-meter, winning the event in the process. Kelati clocked a time of 14:39.46, which converts to 14:18.61 because of altitude. He currently ranks No. 26 in division two.

Running a facility record and moving onto the Western Colorado Top Ten All-Time list is Mountaineer
Bryce Lucas in the men's 100-meter. Lucas ties for the tenth fastest time in school history with his time of 10.65 seconds to win the event.

Also setting a facility record was Western Colorado's
Michael Grabowski in the men's steeplechase. Grabowski won the event in a record setting time of 9:42.49.
