DURANGO, Colo. Western Colorado will look to pick up their first win in RMAC conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Durango to take on the Fort Lewis College at 7:30 p.m.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western currently sits at 0-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, falling to Black Hills State University 85-80 (Dec. 3) and Chadron State College 90-84 (Dec. 4).
- The Mountaineers shot pretty decent in both games, 50% against the Yellow Jackets and 47.5% against the Eagles. However, turnovers cost them against Black Hills State and a slow start cost them against Chadron State College.
- If Western can't nip those few flaws in the bud they can be a dangerous team going forward, as they have improved each game.
- Matthew Ragsdale has been the leading scorer for the Mountaineers averaging 22.9 points per game, on 45.3% shooting from the field. Kade Juelfs and Jaelan McCloud have been the best shooters from the three-point line for Western shooting 70% and 48.3%.
- As a team the Mountaineers score 74.3 points per game, shooting 45.3% from the field, 33.2% from the arc, and 76.1% from the free throw line.
SKYHAWKS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Fort Lewis sits at 1-1 in RMAC conference play, after defeating Chadron State College 87-63 (Dec. 3) and then falling to Black Hills State University 83-81 (Dec. 4).
- The Skyhawks have a high scoring offense averaging 88.5 points per game. They shoot 50.1% from the field, 33.7% from the three-point line and 76.1% from the free throw line.
- Fort Lewis also does a decent job taking care of the basketball averaging 11 turnovers a game.
- The Skyhawks are led by Riley Farris who scores 19.1 points per game, while shooting 54.8% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. Farris isn't the only Fort Lewis player who can get buckets, as Brenden Boatwright (12.4), Akuel Kot (11.3), JacQuess Hobbs (11) and Will Wittman (10.8) are also threats.
