Mountaineers take to the road to play N.M. Highlands and Colorado Christian

GUNNISON, Colo. --- The Western Colorado women's soccer team looks to earn two wins this weekend as they travel to New Mexico Highlands University to face the Cowgirls on Friday at 2 p.m. and to Colorado Christian University on Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THIS WEEK | 2021 SEASON STATS
Western Colorado heads into this weeks games with a win last Sunday from Adams State University and an overall record of 4-4 and 1-2 in the RMAC.

In this season, Caileen Sienknecht leads the team with three goals while Casey Ober has two goals and teammate Laura Pelino has had two goal and two assists. Jessie Jacobsen has one goal and two assists, Kylie Hickox has a goal and an assist, and Bridget Feely has one goal.

In goal, Kaeyla Noble has played all but 16 minutes this season for Western and has a 1.90 GAA and a 0.789 save percentage. 

NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021 SEASON STATS
The Cowgirls head into this Friday's game with 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC. They have been unable to secure a win this season, with their most recent loss coming from Colorado Christian University at home.
 
On the season, Alondra G- Ceballos leads the team with four goals and an assist, teammates Anna Medina and Nitza Rodriguez have 3 goals each. Breanna Fatten has two goals, Carly Grirgo, Janis Martinez, and tania Salcedo all have one goal. Goalie Karina Vega has played the entirety of every game this season and has a 4.83 GAA and 0.53 save percentage.

THE MOUNTAINEERS VS. NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS ALL-TIME
Western Colorado is 4-4 all-time against New Mexico Highlands University and are currently on a four-match win streak since 2016.
 
COLORADO CHRISTIAN HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021 SEASON STATS
The Cougars head into Sunday's game with 3-4-2 overall and 2-2 in the RMAC. They head into the week on a two game winning streak after beating Adams State and N.M. Highlands on the  road last week. 
 
On the season, Capri Dewing leads the team with three goals, as teammates Saige Stock, Karter Corini, Celeste Ruelas and Taya Starnes each have one goal on the season. Stock and Ashleigh Willette each have one assist. 

THE MOUNTAINEERS VS. COLORADO CHRISTIAN ALL-TIME
Western Colorado is 4-2-4 all-time against Colorado Christian University and are currently on a one-match win streak.

- NOBLE NAMED RMAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK (SEPT. 7)
Western Colorado's Kaeyla Noble is this week's Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after picking up two shutouts in two Mountaineer wins. Noble in a 1-0 season-opening win over Western Oregon on Friday in Grand Junction picked up six saves while playing all 90 minutes - facing nine shots. Noble was even more impressive against West Texas A&M in the Mountaineers' 2-0 win Sunday in Durango, picking up 11 saves - tied for the seventh-most in the nation during the opening weekend - while facing 21 shots.

- WELCOME TO KATY O. RADY FIELD - THE HIGHEST COLLEGIATE SOCCER FIELD IN THE WORLD
Western Colorado women's soccer will debut Katy O. Rady Field this season and it will be the highest collegiate soccer field in the world at 7,723 feet. 

- MOUNTAINEERS PICKED 12TH IN RMAC PRESEASON COACHES POLL (RELEASE)
The Western Colorado women's soccer team was voted 11th in the RMAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Western Colorado went 1-8 overall and 1-4 in RMAC play during the spring 2021 season - moved from fall 2020 due to the pandemic.
