GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University track and field heads to Fort Collins, Colorado to participate in their second outdoor meet of the season. The full team is set to compete Saturday, but has multi events starting later today and throughout tomorrow.

Competing in the heptathlon is Mountaineer
Kayla Mullen. After coming off of a personal record and fifth place finish finish in the pentathlon at the RMAC Championships, Mullen looks to take increase her marks outdoors in Fort Collins.

For the men,
Graham Butcher will be competing in the decathlon. Last weekend Butcher set personal records in the 110 meter hurdles, discus and the javelin. Winning the javelin with a throw of 50.84 meters.

On the distance side
Taylor Stack,
Charlie Sweeney and
Ross Husch will open up their outdoor season this weekend. Stack and Sweeney in the 5,000 meter and Husch in the 1,500 meter.

Stack, Sweeney and Husch are all coming off of All-American performances after the Indoor Championships and look to clock in some early season qualifying times for the Outdoor Championships.

On the women's side,
Hannah Mae Gigstad will open up her outdoor season as a Mountaineer in the 1,500 meter. The true freshman set three personal records during the indoor season in the 800 meter, mile and 3,000 meter. At Indoor RMAC Championships, Gigstad finished seventh in both the mile and 3,000 meter, and was part of the third place DMR team.

Juman Randall and
Adrian Iribe will both race in the 400 meter and 200 meter in Fort Collins. The provisional time for the 200 meter is 21.36 seconds and 47.77 seconds for the 400 meter.

Western will race all of their hurdlers in the 110 meter hurdles and the 100 meter hurdles, with the exception of
Kacee-Lyn Hahn.

After a first place performance in the season opener, Nacona Swindell will look to reach new heights this weekend in the pole vault. With an early season clearance of 3.70 meters last weekend Swindell is currently just one of five athletes who has a provisional mark for the Outdoor Championships.

Aside from
Colby Stinson, the Mountaineers will have a full squad competing in the throws this weekend. After six top eight performances last weekend the throwing team will look to put more athletes on the podium in Fort Collins.
