GUNNISON, Colo. – For the second year, Western State Colorado University women's basketball will host their annual Play 4 Kay game on Friday as they host Fort Lewis College. With tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. Play 4 Kay promotions will begin before the women's game and run through the entirety of the men's game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to Friday's games.
There will be free cotton candy at the game for all students and fans. Also, Western women's and men's basketball will be auctioning special pink warm-up shirts. Don't miss the chance to bid on your favorite player and support the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation in the process.
The Play 4 Kay event is a national campaign of the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation which honors the legacy of former women's collegiate basketball coaching great, Kay Yow by seek to raise awareness in regards to cancer and women's health issues through the Play 4 Kay campaign.
Prior to Friday's game, Western women's basketball is also running a campaign to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation by selling Pink Boxes for $20. Each box continues a mystery prize from a generous sponsor as gift for donating. All proceeds from pink box sales go directly to the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation.

On the court, Western (7-16, 4-13 RMAC) squares off with Fort Lewis College (18-5, 12-5 RMAC).
Just two games removed from a significant win over Colorado Mesa University, Western returns to Paul Wright Gym against the second-ranked team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. While
Katie Dalton continues to offer a consistent scoring presence for the Mountaineers with 10.3 points per game, Western has found crucial role players in recent weeks.
Tammarrah Gothard continues to be a defensive threat with the second-most steals in the RMAC.
Jessie Erickson leads Western in rebounding while both
Chandler Sturms and
Samantha Coleman have brought timely three-point shooting in the second half of the season.
Fort Lewis features a potent offense, averaging 67 points per game. With a 13.8 margin, the Skyhawks are a challenge on both ends of the floor. Efficient with the basketball, the Skyhawks have one of the better turnover margins in the conference. Leading the way for Fort Lewis is Vivian Gray. Gray is the top scorer in the RMAC averaging 18.5 points per game. She also leads the conference in blocks.
