GUNNISON, Colo.  Head women's basketball coach K.C. Bassett has announced the addition of assistant coach Kenadee Winfrey to the Mountaineer coaching staff.

Winfrey comes to the Western Slope after playing four years at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and the 2025-26 season in her hometown of Canyon, Texas, at West Texas A&M.

"From ‌the ‌start of this search, we set out to find the kind of person who truly lines up with what we believe Western Colorado women's basketball should be, someone who puts relationships first, commits to player growth, and shows up every day with energy and passion. Kenadee is that person," explained Bassett.

"She connects with people in a genuine way, has superior basketball knowledge and experience, and will make a real difference in the lives of our student athletes, not only on the court, but away from it too. I'm thrilled to welcome her into the Mountaineer family."

Winfrey was part of four straight Mountain West Conference regular-season titles and three MWC tournament crowns, advancing to the NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament three times (2022, 2023, 2024) and to the WBIT in 2025.

She accrued 972 minutes on the court in 85 games at UNLV, finishing her career with the Lady Rebels with a total of 247 points, 190 rebounds, 76 assists, and 36 steals.

At West Texas A&M, she played in 27 games and finished the season with 150 points, 109 rebounds, and 37 steals as the Lady Buffs played into the championship game of the Lone Star Conference tournament and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA DII women's national tournament.

Winfrey begins her tenure at Western on August 1.
