GUNNISON, Colo. - Western State Colorado University men's and women's basketball returns home for a pair of games Friday and Saturday. Friday, the Mountaineers will host the Regis University Rangers, while Saturday, the Metro State University Denver Roadrunners will come to town. Both women's games will be held a 5:30 p.m., with the men following at 7:30 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
Western women's basketball (4-11, 3-8 RMAC) enters Friday night's game after dropping last weekend's matchup to Colorado Mesa University 45-73. The Mountaineers currently sit tied for 10th place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
Western's leading scorer,
Jade McIntosh (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) is averaging 13.6 points per game, which ranks eighth best in the conference.
Regis (10-5, 6-5 RMAC) comes into the game on a two game win streak. The Rangers defeated both Adams State University and Fort Lewis College last weekend in Denver. Regis is tied for fifth in the conference standings.
The Mountaineers will be looking to snap a two game losing streak against Regis. The last Western win over the Rangers came in January of 2012.
Regis' Bay'lee Purdy leads the team and is fourth in the RMAC, averaging 17 points per game.
On Saturday, MSU Denver (10-5, 7-4 RMAC) will come to Gunnison after facing Colorado Mesa University on Friday night. The Roadrunners enter the weekend having lost to Fort Lewis in their last contest. MSU Denver sits fourth in the RMAC standings.
Western will be looking for their first win against the Roadrunners since the Mountaineers pulled off the upset in semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Shootout in 2012.
MSU Denver's Deni Jacobs leads the team in scoring and is fifth in the RMAC, averaging 14.7 points per game.
Western men's basketball (3-12, 2-9 RMAC) will look to avenge last weekend's loss to Colorado Mesa University on Friday against Regis. The Mountaineers and Rangers are tied for 11th place in the RMAC standings.

Mason Biddle (Sr., Riverside, California), is averaging 18.9 points per game, which ranks sixth best in the conference. Biddle's 122 free throws made, also ranks the guard third in all of Division II.
