FB | Four named to All-NFFCC teams

DURANGO, Colo. - The National Football Foundation - Colorado Chapter (NFFCC) announced the 2015 All-NFFCC teams on Monday night. Western State Colorado University football had four student-athletes named to the teams. The Mountaineers had two players named to the first team, while two more made the second team.

Earning first team honors from Western was running back Austin Ekeler (Jr., Eaton, Colorado) and linebacker Jacob Bernhard (Sr., Fort Lupton, Colorado). Making the second team was linebacker Jordan Woodyard (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) and punter Dakota Swinehart (Sr., Taos, New Mexico).

Austin Ekeler - 
2015 AP Little All-America Third Team...2015 D2CCA All-America Second Team...2015 RMAC First Team...2015 D2CCA All-Region First Team...Division II leader in all-purpose yards per game at 203.90 and scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game...Ranked third in D2 for total rushing yards (1,637) and rushing yards per game (163.7)...Two-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week in 2015...D2Football.com Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28...Set school single season records for rushing yards per game, rushing touchdowns, scoring and all-purpose yards per game...Ran for 344 yards on Oct. 24, the most in school history and third most ever in the RMAC...Became Western's all-time leader in career rushing yards in 2015...Two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team selection...2015 RMAC All-Academic First Team...2014 Daktronics All-Region Second Team...2014 BSN All-America Fourth Team...2014 All-RMAC First Team Selection...2014 Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Region Third Team.

Jacob Bernhard - 
2015 RMAC First Team selection...2015 D2CCA All-Super Region Four First Team selection...Fourth in D2 in tackles per game with 14.9...Sixth in D2 in total tackles with 149, despite only playing 10 games...Ninth in D2 in solo tackles per game with 6.6...Tied for 30th in D2 in tackles for loss per game at 1.6...Led the RMAC in total tackles, tackles per game, solo tackles, assisted tackles, and assisted tackles for loss...Ranked second in the RMAC for tackles for loss per game and total tackles for loss...Recorded a career high 20 tackles against Western New Mexico on Oct. 24, 2015, which ties for the fifth most in Western history...Was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 26, 2015...Recorded the fourth most season tackles in Western history (149)...Recorded 14 or more tackles in the first eight games played in 2015...Led the team in sacks with 3.5.

Jordan Woodyard - 
Second on the team in tackles (114) and third in tackles for loss (7.5) and sacks (2.5)…Second in the RMAC in tackles per game, assisted tackles and tied for second in total tackles…Fourth in the RMAC in assisted tackles for a loss (9).

Dakota Swinehart - 
2015 RMAC Co-Special Teams Player of the Year...2015 D2CCA All-Region First Team...40.7 percent of punts landed within opponents' 20-yard line...13 punts traveled over 50 yards...Kicked a career long 69-yard punt on Sept. 12...Recorded his first career touchdown in 2015 on a 69-yard fake punt run...HERO Sports Preseason All-American.

NFFCC board members and the sports information directors from the 10 institutions in Colorado voted on the 2015 All-Colorado team. The 10 Colorado institutions consist of Adams State, Air Force, Colorado, Colorado Mesa, Colorado Mines, Colorado State, Colorado State-Pueblo, Fort Lewis, Northern Colorado and Western State.
