• The Mountaineers hold an all-time record of 2-1 against the Lady Chaps, with the most recent matchup coming in 2022. The last time Lubbock Christian traveled to Gunnison, Western came away with a dominant 5-0 victory.

• Mountaineer football is coming off a dominant road victory over West Texas A&M, taking down the Buffaloes 52-21 last week. Western's offense came out firing in the victory, while the Mountaineer defense helped set the tone throughout the game and kept West Texas A&M from finding much rhythm.
• Western enters Thursday's matchup looking to rewrite the history books, as the Mountaineers are 0-6 all-time against their opponent. With the opportunity to add another win to the record, Western will look to carry the momentum from last week's impressive road performance into Thursday night.
• The Mountaineers are also receiving plenty of national attention, currently sitting at No. 10 in the latest D2Football.com rankings. With a spot in the top 10, Western will look to show why they belong among the nation's best as they take the field Thursday night.
• Quarterback Josiah Roy will look to continue his impressive start to the season after putting together a standout performance last week. Roy completed just nine passes but finished with an impressive 268 passing yards, showcasing his ability to stretch the field and make big plays through the air. With a talented and experienced wide receiving core surrounding him, Roy will have plenty of weapons at his disposal as the Mountaineers look to put together another explosive offensive performance.

• Western Colorado is coming off a historic start to the season after completing a perfect 4-0 weekend at last weekend's invitational. The Mountaineers carried strong momentum throughout the tournament and will look to keep that same energy rolling as they travel to the Aloha State.
• Western will face another busy weekend in Hawaii, with four matches on the schedule. The Mountaineers will look to build on their impressive start while continuing to establish themselves as one of the top teams early in the season.
• Sierra Long will be one of the key players to watch for Western after leading the Mountaineers' attack last weekend. Long recorded a team-high 45 kills across the four matches and consistently provided a spark offensively. She will look to continue her strong play in Hawaii while helping lead the Mountaineers' attack.
• This weekend will also serve as a homecoming of sorts for several Mountaineers, including Long, Anuhea Ka'alele and Emily Robins, who will have the opportunity to compete in their home state.
• Western will open the weekend against Western Oregon, with the Mountaineers holding an 0-1 all-time record against the Wolves. The remaining three matchups will be new territory for Western, as the Mountaineers will face each of those opponents for the first time in program history.
• Ka'alele will also be a player to watch throughout the weekend as she looks to make an impact in the middle and help orchestrate the Mountaineer offense. She led Western with 86 assists over the four matches last weekend, helping keep the offense moving and putting her teammates in position to make plays.
• Olivia Moore was also a key contributor at setter, finishing the weekend with 71 assists. With both Ka'alele and Moore running the offense, Western will have a strong one-two punch at setter as the Mountaineers look to continue their hot start and come away with another successful weekend in Hawaii.

Cross Country – WCU Team Time Trial

• Western Colorado's men's and women's cross country teams will officially kick off their 2026 campaign this weekend with a team time trial in Gunnison.
• The Mountaineers entered the season with high expectations, as the men's team was selected to finish third in the RMAC Preseason Poll, while the women's team was picked fourth.
• With strong expectations heading into the new season, both squads will look to set the tone early and build momentum as they begin their 2026 campaign.
