- The Mountaineers will take on the Eagles and Yellow Jackets in what is tabbed a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Power Pod weekend. This is the second of the Pod weekends in the schedule, neither Pod results counting within the RMAC standings.
- The Power Pod teams are determined by how the teams finished in the 2024-25 RMAC standings, with Western, Chadron and Black Hills comprising one of the Pod groupings this season.
- Earlier this season the Mountaineers split results in RMAC matches with these two opponents, defeating Black Hills State (3-0) on its home court but falling to Chadron State (3-2).
- Western is coming off a weekend sweep in Paul Wright Gym of visiting New Mexico Highlands and Adams State. The Mountaineers swept the Cowgirls in a 3-0 match, then went the distance with the Grizzlies, 3-2, one of those set wins (34-32) the highest winning set score in program history.
- Breanna Nohava had a career weekend during the sweep, knocking down a career-high 11 kills and scoring a career best total of 15.5 points in the Highlands match, then one day later registering a career-high 10 blocks against ASU.

- The Mountaineers registered a huge win on the previous weekend, downing Black Hills State, 3-1, defeating a Yellow Jackets squad that two days prior had clinched a spot in the RMAC postseason tournament.
- Western's win kept it in eighth place in the conference standings as it chases it's first postseason RMAC berth since the 2017 season.
- The upcoming weekend takes the Mountaineers (10 points) to the two teams immediately behind them in the standings, each with seven points.
- Western's most recent win against MSU Denver was a 1-0 victory in 2015, though the 2023 game ended in a 2-2 draw. The victory in 2015 is the Mountaineers only win against the Roadrunners. Conversely, Western has not lost to CCU since 2019, posting a 4-0-2 record against the Cougars, including last season's 2-1 win.
- Records have been broken in the recent weeks, led by Jordan Welsh in the attacking third. She set a program record for career goals with her marker in the Colorado School of Mines game on Oct. 11 then upped her program-leading career total to 12 with the game-winner against Black Hills State.
- Her goal against the Yellow Jackets was her seventh of the season, setting a single-season goals record for the Mountaineers, and with that score, she set the single-season points record with 16 points.
- As a team, the Mountaineers have accumulated 17 assists this season, also a new program record.

- The sixth-ranked Mountaineers will try to keep their unblemished season rolling with Saturday's game against the host Yellow Jackets, who are 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the RMAC. Western is 10-3 overall against BHSU having won the last seven meetings and 10 of the last 11.
- The Yellow Jackets are playing much better football than last season, when the Mountaineers rolled to a 56-17 home win, so Saturday's matchup could be a much closer game, though Western is eighth in the country in scoring offense at 45 points per game and 16th nationally in scoring defense (16 PPG).
- Coming off a 55-0 shutout over visiting Fort Lewis College, the Mountaineers earned a pair of weekly awards as placekicker JT Miller earned both the RMAC and D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
- Miller, in the FLC win, converted all six of his field goal attempts, tying the NCAA Division II single-game record – as well as the Colorado state record for collegiate kickers – and with his 3-for-3 PATs night his total of 21 points also tied a DII record.
- Special teams play has been stellar for the Mountaineers, in addition to Miller's statistics. The punt block team picked up two more in the Fort Lewis game, one by Blake Kramer, his first, and another by Jevon Young whose four blocked punts leads the nation. The team's five blocked punts also tops DII. On the flip side, Young is one of 45 DII players to return a punt for a touchdown this season.
- Quarterback Josiah Roy will lead the offense in Spearfish, as he ranks 14th nationally in passing efficiency (168.7) and 21st in completion percentage (0.660).
