  • The Western Colorado women's soccer team kicks off a busy weekend at Kady O. Rady Field, hosting Regis University on Friday afternoon before welcoming Black Hills State on Sunday for Senior Day. The Mountaineers will look to carry their momentum into the weekend as they prepare for two important Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchups on their home field.
  • Western enters Friday's contest coming off a historic weekend for Jordan Welch, who captured the program's all-time goals record during the Mountaineers' matchup against Colorado School of Mines last Sunday. Welch's milestone marks a significant achievement for the program and highlights her impact on Western Colorado soccer. With that accomplishment behind her, Welch and the Mountaineers will look to build on their recent performances and get back into the win column against the Rangers.
  • Regis holds the advantage in the all-time series against Western, making Friday's matchup another opportunity for the Mountaineers to make a statement at home. Western will look to set the tone early, create scoring opportunities and take advantage of its home-field advantage. With two matches on the schedule, a strong start on Friday could provide valuable momentum heading into Sunday's Senior Day contest.
  • Welch continues to lead the Mountaineers' offensive attack with six goals on the season. Adah Minikel-Lacoque has also been a key contributor, sitting just behind Welch with four goals while leading the team with three assists. The duo has played an important role in creating scoring opportunities and generating offense for Western throughout the season. Look for both players to make an impact this weekend as the Mountaineers look to find the back of the net against two conference opponents.
  • Western will then turn its attention to Sunday, when the Mountaineers host Black Hills State for Senior Day at Kady O. Rady Field. The contest will provide an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the 2026-27 senior class for its contributions to the program. With the season continuing to move forward, Western will look to give its seniors a memorable performance in front of the home crowd.
  • The Mountaineers hold the advantage in the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets with a 6-2-1 record. Last season's meeting ended in a draw, and Western will look to break that trend and come away with a victory this time around. The Mountaineers will aim to use their familiarity with Black Hills State and the energy of Senior Day to their advantage as they look to secure another important conference result.
  • With a historic milestone behind them and a special Senior Day ahead, the Mountaineers have plenty to play for this weekend. Western will look to rely on the offensive production of Welch and Minikel-Lacoque while putting together two strong performances at home. The Mountaineers open the weekend against Regis on Friday before returning to the pitch Sunday to take on Black Hills State and honor the senior class at Kady O. Rady Field.

The Mountaineers will look to defend their home court and build momentum as they prepare for a pair of important conference matchups in front of their home fans.
  • Western opens the weekend on Friday night against New Mexico Highlands in the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Mountaineers previously faced the Cowgirls during the Virginia Harris/Jeanie Miller Invitational in late August, where Western came away with a convincing straight-set victory. The Mountaineers will look to carry that success into Friday's contest and earn another win over Highlands as they continue their RMAC schedule.
  • Western holds a 16-14 advantage over the Cowgirls in the all-time series and will look to extend that lead on its home floor. Friday's match will also serve as Western's RMAC Mental Health Awareness match, providing an opportunity to recognize the importance of mental health and wellness while bringing the Mountaineer community together. With conference competition heating up, Western will look to make a statement and protect its home court.
  • The Mountaineers will then turn their attention to Adams State on Saturday for another highly anticipated RMAC matchup. Adams State currently holds the advantage in the all-time series, giving Western an opportunity to make up ground with a strong performance at Paul Wright Gym. The Mountaineers will need to bring their energy and execution from the opening serve as they look to close out the weekend with a victory against the Grizzlies.
  • Leading the way offensively for Western are Sierra Long and Maggie Legg, who have been key contributors to the Mountaineers' attack throughout the season. Long leads the team with 146 kills, while Legg follows closely behind with 142. Both players have provided consistent offensive production and will be important pieces of Western's game plan this weekend. Their ability to find open spaces, capitalize on scoring opportunities and deliver in key moments will be crucial as the Mountaineers face two conference opponents.
  • The setting duo of Olivia Moore and Anuhea Ka'alele has also played a significant role in Western's success. Moore leads the Mountaineers with 301 assists, while Ka'alele has added 277 assists of her own. Their ability to distribute the ball and create opportunities for Western's hitters has helped fuel the team's offensive production throughout the season. With Long and Legg leading the attack, Moore and Ka'alele will look to keep the offense balanced and give the Mountaineers opportunities to find success against both opponents.
  • With two home matches on the schedule, Western will look to take advantage of playing in front of its home crowd and build momentum against a pair of RMAC opponents. From the offensive production of Long and Legg to the playmaking abilities of Moore and Ka'alele, the Mountaineers have several key contributors who will look to make an impact. Western will aim to carry its previous success against New Mexico Highlands into Friday night before turning its focus to Adams State on Saturday for a competitive weekend at Paul Wright Gym.

FOOTBALL
Fort Lewis at Western (White Out)

  • The Western Colorado football team returns home Saturday night after another dominant performance, defeating New Mexico Highlands 52-24. Following an impressive victory and a bye week to rest and prepare, the Mountaineers are ready to get back on the field as they welcome Fort Lewis College to Gunnison for another Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup.
  • Western enters the contest looking to build on its recent success and continue its offensive dominance. The Mountaineers hold a winning record in the all-time series against the Skyhawks, leading 16-8. With the home crowd behind them, Western will look to add another victory to the series while continuing to establish itself as one of the conference's most dangerous offensive teams. The Mountaineers have averaged around 40 points per game this season, showcasing their ability to score through both the air and on the ground.
  • Leading the charge for Western's high-powered offense is quarterback Josiah Roy, who has put together an impressive season under center. Roy leads the Mountaineers with 1,061 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns, providing a consistent presence in the passing game. Coming off a week of rest and preparation, Roy will look to continue his strong play and lead the offense to another big performance on Saturday night. With several talented playmakers surrounding him, the Mountaineers will have plenty of opportunities to challenge the Fort Lewis defense.
  • The Western receiving core has been a major factor in the team's offensive success. Caden Measner leads the way with 22 receptions for 365 yards and three touchdowns, giving Roy a reliable target in the passing game. DJ Allen Jr. and Ramon Ruiz have also made their presence felt, leading the Mountaineers with four receiving touchdowns apiece. With multiple receivers capable of making big plays, Western will look to stretch the field, create opportunities downfield and keep the Skyhawks' secondary on its heels throughout the contest.
  • On the ground, the Mountaineers feature a talented trio of running backs in Isaiah Jones, Lamonte James and Damien Nevil. The three-headed rushing attack gives Western versatility in the backfield and allows the offense to attack opposing defenses in multiple ways. Whether it is breaking off explosive runs or grinding out tough yards to keep the chains moving, Jones, James and Nevil will be key pieces of the offensive game plan. If the Mountaineers can establish the run early, they will put themselves in a strong position to control the tempo and open up additional opportunities in the passing game.
  • While the offense has generated plenty of excitement, Western's defense will also look to make its mark against Fort Lewis. Kade Musser leads the Mountaineers with 47 total tackles on the season while adding 2.5 sacks, making him a key presence in the defensive unit. Along the defensive front, Caden Campuzano leads the team with five sacks, consistently putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Western has also received contributions from several other defenders who have recorded multiple sacks, highlighting the team's ability to generate pressure from different areas of the defense.
  • As the Mountaineers return to the field following their bye week, they will look to carry their momentum into another important conference matchup. With an explosive offense, a balanced rushing attack and a defense capable of creating pressure, Western will aim to put together a complete performance in front of its home fans. The Mountaineers will look to protect home turf, extend their winning ways and deliver another strong showing when they take on the Skyhawks on Saturday night.
