GUNNISON, Colo. The Mountaineer track and field team concluded its last chance meet on Thursday afternoon, posting a number of high finishes and RMAC-qualifying marks.
The meet opened with the women's 5,000-meter run, where
Lainey Mathiske took first place with a time of 19:20.08, while
Luna Prochazchova finished second in 12:25.87.
In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase,
Sander Stuwe claimed the win, crossing the line in 10:17.22. Avery Cesae followed in second with a time of 10:31.51, and
Joseph Houdeshell placed third in 10:38.11.
The men's 1,500-meter run saw
Andrey Kutchma finish first in 4:04.67.
Charlie Dillman took second in 4:05.41, with
Kaden Hamilton close behind in third at 4:05.57.
In the women's 400-meter dash,
Kiarra Lapp secured first place with a time of 59.48 seconds, while
Meghan Benkendorf finished second in 1:00.36. On the men's side,
Jack Boyt placed second with a career-best time of 48.49 seconds, and
Will Stone finished third, also recording a career-best 48.89 seconds.
The women's 800-meter run featured
Natalie Kessler taking first in 2:20.69, followed by
Megan McLaughlin in second at 2:27.24.
Jeffrey Poku led the men's sprints, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.88 seconds, with
Arvell Amos finishing second in 10.99 seconds. Poku also captured the 200-meter title with a career-best time of 21.73 seconds.
In the field events,
Katrina Trahan won the women's discus with a career-best throw of 44.21m (145-0.50), while
Abigail Nehring placed second with a mark of 41.71m (136-1000). On the men's side,
Kenyon Rook earned first with a career-best throw of 46.10m (151-2.75), and
Austin John finished second at 44.94m (147-5.25).
Brayden Jones took first in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.72m (15-5.75), while
Myles Balding finished second with a mark of 3.97m (13-0.25). In the women's pole vault,
Aaleiah Porter-Gyll secured first place with a height of 3.45m (11-3.75).
In the men's triple jump,
Shawn Carter finished first with a leap of 14.40m (47-2.75), while
Emma Alford won the women's event with a mark of 11.40m (37-4.75).
The men's high jump saw
Brandon Kolb take first with a clearance of 2.02m (6-7.50), followed by
Cole Young in second at 1.87m (6-1.50). In the women's high jump,
Kyla Wolitzky claimed first with a height of 1.68m (5-6.00), while Breanna Nohava finished second with a mark of 1.48m (4-10.25).
