VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. The Western Colorado University Mountaineers closed out the 2026 Indoor National Championships on Saturday afternoon with two athletes competing on the final day.
Emma Kjellsen was first on the track for Western in the mile run. Kjellsen finished seventh overall with a time of 4:48.64, earning First Team All-American honors. Her performance also marked a four-second personal best.
Later in the day, Lauren Willson competed in the 3,000-meter run. Willson finished 12th overall with a time of 9:32.64, earning Second Team All-American honors.
The performances from Kjellsen and Willson capped off the national meet with two All-American finishes on the final day for the Mountaineers.
Closing out the 2026 Indoor National Championships, the Mountaineer track and field team recorded multiple All-American performances throughout the meet:
Tyler Nord – Mile Run (4:10.26) – 14th
Peyton Weiss – Mile Run (5:10.18) – 18th
Emma Kjellsen – Mile Run (4:48.64) – 7th
Wyatt Hoover, Gable Rial, Tyler Nord, Will Stone – Distance Medley Relay (9:59.26) – 11th
Emma Kjellsen, Alissa Rall, Peyton Weiss, Lauren Willson – Distance Medley Relay (11:34.61) – 7th
Lauren Willson – 3,000-Meter Run (9:32.64) – 12th
Western wrapped up the national meet with several athletes earning All-American recognition while competing against the top talent in Division II. The women's team came away with 40th place with four team points.Â
