GOLDEN, Colo., DENVER  The Mountaineers take to the road for pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games, hoping to break a strong of wins by Colorado School of Mines and then playing a rematch with MSU Denver.

THE HISTORY
  • Western and Mines have a long history on the hardwood, dating back to 1925. The Mountaineers have the all-time series lead at 99-92, but CSM has won the last six meetings.
  • The Roadrunners have compiled a 19-3 record against Western, winning the past five outings including a tight 87-83 MSUD win early in this season.
WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2025-26 Stats
  • Western, 6-14 overall and 4-8 in the RMAC, had a solid win four games ago over visiting South Dakota Mines then put up a strong challenge for then-No. 21 Black Hills State. Two losses followed last week, though, a three-game losing streak the Mountaineers hope to break at Mines.
  • The Mountaineers are averaging 74.5 PPG, led by DII's leading scorer Aidan McDowell (27.7 PPG). McDowell's 3.45 3-pointers per game rank fifth in the country, and his total of 69 triples are seventh most in DII.
  • Tyler Halligan has had his ups and downs as of late, but he is still scoring in double figures for Western at 12.9 PPG. Jordan Kuac is basically a made basket away from double digits also, at 9.9 PPG to help out in the offensive end.
  • McDowell, Halligan and Kuac are also the team's leading rebounders at 5.2, 5.2 and 4.8 RPG, respectively.
  • While Halligan began the season as the main distributor, Mason Mottashed has taken over that role, dishing out a total of 75 assists to lead the Mountaineers.
  • Early in the season Western was turning the ball over 20 or more times a game, but it's brought the turnover margin down to just minus-5, aided by an average of only 11.75 per game over the last four outings.
COLORADO MINES HEADING INTO THE GAME | 2025-26 Stats
  • Mines is just 11-12 overall but posts a 7-5 winning record in RMAC action. It had won three straight before dropping its two most recent games, both on the road.
  • The Orediggers live on the 3-point attempt, making 212 this season, the most in the RMAC.
  • A +4 rebounding margin is buoyed by Alex Romack whose 9.1 RPG leads the conference and ranks 25th among NCAA Division II players. Romack is also the team's leading scorer at 13.2 PPG.
  • Mines' long-range prowess is paced by Shelton Henton's 59 triples, second most in the RMAC. Shelton also scores in double figures for the Orediggers at 10.3 PPG.
  • True freshman Trent Minter sets up the Mines in the offensive end, leading the team with 76 assists.
MSU DENVER HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2025-26 Stats
  • Coming into the week, the Roadrunners are 7-13 overall and 5-7 in the RMAC, and host Colorado Mesa University on Thursday prior to welcoming Western to Auraria Event Center on Saturday.
  • MSUD has alternated wins and losses in its past four games, all in conference play.
  • The Roadrunners, despite shooting and equal field goal percentage and an equal rebounding margin, post a minus-6 scoring margin overall and bring a minus-4 turnover margin into their games against the Mavericks and Mountaineers.
  • The top scoring threat is Logan Threatt at 16.4 PPG, but Quave Propst-Allison is just as dangerous with a 15.0 PPG mark.
  • Propst-Allison is the long-range sharpshooter for the team, accumulating 45 3-pointers this season. But he is also the setup man in the offensive end, dishing out a team-high 61 assists.
  • Helping the Roadrunners' rebounding average is team leader Brian Unachukwu, who is pulling down 5.6 RPG, including 72 rebounds off the defensive rim.
