Women's Soccer heads south for a pair of RMAC matchups against Adams State and New Mexico Highlands, while Volleyball travels to Colorado Mesa and Westminster for a two-match road trip. Swimming officially opens its season at Colorado Mesa, and Football heads to Las Vegas, New Mexico, to take on New Mexico Highlands.

- Soccer hits the road this weekend for a two-game road trip, beginning with a matchup against Adams State on Friday.
- The Mountaineers hold a 9-6-2 all-time record against the Grizzlies, with the most recent matchup ending in a draw. Western will look to get over the hump and come away with a road victory.

- Mountaineer Swimming will open the 2026-27 season this weekend as Western Colorado travels to Grand Junction to compete in the annual Intermountain Shootout, hosted by Colorado Mesa University.
- This year's two-day event will feature teams from Adams State, Brigham Young University, the University of Utah and Utah Tech, along with Western Colorado and host Colorado Mesa.
- The Intermountain Shootout will be scored as two separate meets, with a different event schedule each day. Friday's competition begins at 4 p.m. with the 400-yard medley relay, while Saturday's meet gets underway at 10 a.m. with the 200-yard medley relay.
- The weekend will also mark the first meet for head coach Justin Hasting, who was hired in the spring of 2026. Hasting and the Mountaineers will look to start the new season strong against a competitive field in Grand Junction.

- The Mountaineers will see some familiar opponents this weekend as Western Colorado hits the road to take on Colorado Mesa and Westminster, the same two teams they faced last weekend.
- Western will open the road trip against Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks came away with the victory in the previous matchup, and the Mountaineers will look to bounce back and make a statement on the road. Colorado Mesa currently holds the all-time series advantage over Western.
- The Mountaineers will then wrap up the weekend against Westminster. The Griffins hold a 13-10 advantage in the all-time series, but Western is coming off a thrilling five-set victory over Westminster in their most recent matchup.
- Andrea Torres leads the Mountaineers offensively with 127 kills, while Sierra Long follows closely behind with 118 kills. Western will look to both players to continue their strong play throughout the weekend.
- Olivia Moore has helped lead the Mountaineer offense with 262 assists, serving as the primary setter and orchestrating Western's attack.

- The Mountaineers are coming off a dominant performance in the 79th Colorado Classic, defeating Adams State 70-21 last Saturday. Western will look to carry that momentum into this weekend as it travels to Las Vegas, New Mexico, to take on New Mexico Highlands.
- Western holds a 16-8 advantage in the all-time series against the Cowboys and is coming off a dominant 30-3 victory over Highlands in last season's matchup.
- The Mountaineer defense has been a major strength throughout the season, allowing no more than 21 points in a game. Western will look to its defense to continue setting the tone and make an impact against the Cowboys this weekend.
- Jevon Young is coming off a standout performance against Adams State after being named the D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week. Young blocked three punts and recovered one for a touchdown, giving the Mountaineers a major spark on special teams. Look for Young to make another impact this weekend.
- Western also enters the matchup with a three-headed attack in the running back room. Lamonte James leads the group in both rushing yards and touchdowns, while Damien Nevil has recorded two touchdowns and 206 rushing yards.
