PUEBLO, Colo.  Western Colorado's Allison Beasley advanced from Thursday's preliminary round of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase into Friday's championship final at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships at Colorado State University Pueblo. 

Beasley in Heat 1 at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl posted a time of 10 minutes, 43.63 seconds to place fourth and automatically qualify for the final. 

The top four in each of the two heats earn automatic berths with the next four fastest times from the heats advancing to Friday's 12-runner final. Beasley will head into that final as the fifth seed of the 12 competitors. 

Beasley raced near the front of the pack in the early stages of her heat, eventually running in a breakaway group that comprised second through fourth place. A stumble over a hurdle heading into the 2,200m mark of the race could have dropped her from that small pack, but she picked herself up off the track without losing ground to finish just two seconds behind the second- and third-place finishers in the heat. 

Only one competitor from Heat 2 bettered Beasley's time, and overall, the final 12 runners will be made up of six racers from each of the two heats. 

Western's Eddie Siuda was next on the track in the opening heat of the men's steeplechase. 

Siuda went through the 1,800m mark of his heat in fifth place before falling off the pace he had been holding through that distance. He was still in a position to possibly advance on time but continued to drop spots over the final 1,000 meters, eventually finishing 11th in the heat with a time, 9:59.10, that would not advance into the championship final. 

Beasley will compete in her championship final on Friday at 7:15 p.m. She won't be the only Mountaineers competing, though, as Nykole Meshew will hit the apron of the women's high jump final beginning at 4:45 p.m.
