Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team hosts RMAC opponent Westminster University on Tuesday February 25 at 7:30pm for Senior Night.
 
Grand Junction, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team travels to RMC opponent Colorado Mesa on Saturday March 1 for their final game of the 2024-25 season.

WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME| 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off a split weekend. Dropping to RMAC opponent Chadron State (79-62) then defeating RMAC opponent South Dakota Mines (63-55). The Mountaineers go into the week with an overall record of 7-18 and a conference record of 5-13.
  • Versus CSC senior Amar Rivers led the Mountaineers with 15 points going 6-10 from the field, 2-4 from three and 1-1 from the free throw line. Senior Kade Juelfs put up 11, going 3-11 from the field, 1-7 from three and 4-4 from the charity stripe while recording three steals. Junior Andrew Reichart put up 9. Senior Trey Anderson and sophomore Tyler Halligan each contributed 7.
  • Junior Ty Buckmon paced the offense with 3 assists. Reichart, Juelfs, and Rivers followed with 2.
  • Reichart and senior Nalik Veasley pulled down 5 boards each. Anderson and junior Jamel Hollins had 4.
  • WCU shot 34.4% from the field, 21.9% from three and 72.2% from the free throw line.
  • Against SDM Juelfs led the Mountaineer offense with 13 points, going 3-7 from the field, 1-3 from three and 6-6 from the charity stripe. Halligan followed with 10, going 4-5 from the field, 1-2 from three and 1-2 from the free throw line. Veasley finished with 9, Hollins and Rivers had 8 and Reichart earned 7.
  • Buckmon recorded 3 assists, Rivers and Veasley had 2. Halligan was awarded 3 steals and Juelfs followed with 2. Five Mountaineers earned a block.
  • Juelfs pulled down 7 boards followed by Anderson and Hollins with 6, then Reichart, Grant and Rivers with 5.
  • WCU shot 42.9% from the field, 27.3% from three and 72.7% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers had 32 bench points, 34 points in the paint and 14 second chance points.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 324 total points (13 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 282 total points (11.3 ppg). They are followed by Halligan, 219 total points (8.8 ppg), Anderson, 207 total points (8.6 ppg), and Reichart, 202 total points (8.1 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 145 total (6.3 rpg). Reichart follows with 117 total (4.7 rpg). Third is Rivers with 88 total (3.5 rpg).
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineers in steals with 23 total and paces the Mountaineers with 54 assists. Anderson has earned 16 blocks on the season, followed by Rivers who has accumulated 15.
  • WCU averages 69.4 points per game, shoots 43.7% from the field, 33.5% from behind the arch, and 73.0% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers average 33.9 rebounds, 13.0 assists, 12.5 turnovers, 6.0 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game.
WESTMINSTER MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Griffins come off a split weekend, dropping to RMAC opponent BHSU (70-56) and defeating RMAC opponent Chadron (69-54).
  • WU goes into the weekend with an overall record of 13-13 and a conference record of 7-11. They average 75.8 points, 33.3 rebounds, 15.9 assists, 12.4 turnovers, 6.1 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game.  
  • Senior Chase Potter paces the offense with 357 total points, averaging 13.7 ppg. Right behind him is junior Simon Akena with 331 points (13.8 ppg), then fifth year Donaval Avila with 297 points (11.9 ppg).
  • Potter leads WU in rebounds with 107 total (4.1 rpg), graduate student Ryan Rubenskas is right behind pulling down 106 total rebounds (4.1 rpg).
  • Sophomore Parker Christensen is the front runner for assists with 77 assists and Avilla leads in steals with 37. Rubenskas has recorded a total of 16 blocks on the season.
  • The Griffins shoot 49.2% from the field, 37.4% from behind the arch and 73.5% from the charity stripe.
COLORADO MESA MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Mavericks are coming off a split weekend. Dropping to RMAC opponent Adams State University (102-81) then defeating to RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands (84-77).
  • CMU goes into the weekend with an overall record of 17-9 and a conference record of 11-7. They average 71.8 points, 36.7 rebounds, 13.2 assists, 14.1 turnovers, 7.2 steals, and 4.2 blocks per game.  
  • Redshirt junior Ty Allred paces the offense with 373 total points, averaging 14.3 ppg. Right behind him is freshman Will Mortimore with 278 points (10.7 ppg), then freshman Harvey White with 272 points (10.5 ppg).
  • Mortimore leads CMU in rebounds with 179 total (6.9 rpg), Allred is right behind pulling down 162 total rebounds (6.2 rpg).
  • White is the front runner for assists with 77 and ties for the lead in steals with redshirt senior Christopher Speller, both recording 36. Sophomore Yaak Yaak has accumulated 46 blocks on the season.
  • The Mavericks shoot 45.9% from the field, 32.3% from behind the arch and 74.5% from the charity stripe.
