Colorado Springs, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team travels to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent UC-Colorado Springs on Thursday January 30 at 7pm.

WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME| 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off losses to RMAC opponent South Dakota Mines (72-64) and defeating RMAC opponent Black Hills State University (87-64). The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 6-11 and a conference record of 4-6.
  • Versus SDM senior Kade Juelfs led the Mountaineers with 15 points, going 4-11 from the field, 3-7 from three and 4-5 from the free throw line. Junior Christian Still followed with 11 points going 4-7 inside the paint and 3-5 behind the arch. Senior Amar Rivers finished with 10, junior Jamel Hollins with 9 and junior Andrew Reichart with 7.
  • Rivers ended with 3 assists while Juelfs, senior Nalik Veasley and Still each had 2.
  • Hollins recorded 6 boards while Veasley pulled down 5 and Reichart with 3. Veasley and Still each earned a block.
  • WCU shot 47.9% from the field, 30.4% from three and 53.3% from the charity stripe. The Mountaineers had 17 bench points, 5 steals, 15 points off turnovers and 30 points in the paint.
  • Against BHSU, three Mountaineers scored 11 points, Hollins going 5-9 from the field and 1-1 from the charity stripe, Juelfs going 3-5 from in the paint, 1-1 from three and 4-4 from the free throw line, then sophomore Tyler Halligan going 5-7 from the field, and 1-2 from three. Rivers also scored double digits with 10 and contributed 4 assists.
  • Hollins led the rebounding with 5 boards followed by senior Trey Anderson and Reichart each with 4. Halligan recorded 2 blocks. 
  • WCU shot 47.2% from the field, 18.2% from three and 63.2% from the charity stripe. The Mountaineers had 7 assists, 21 bench points, 3 steals and 9 second chance points.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 220 total points (12.9 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 185 total points (10.9 ppg). They are followed by Halligan, 152 total points (8.9 ppg), Anderson, 150 total points (8.8 ppg), and Reichart, 149 total points (8.8 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 117 total (6.9 rpg). Reichart follows with 73 total (4.3 rpg). Third is Rivers with 61 total (3.6 rpg).
  • Junior Ty Buckmon leads the Mountaineers steals with 17 total. Rivers paces the Mountaineers with 37 assists and has earned 13 blocks on the season, followed by Anderson who has accumulated 11 blocks.
  • WCU averages 72.2 points per game, shoots 46.0% from the field, 34.6% from behind the arch, and 63.8% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers average 32.6 rebounds, 13.9 assists, 12.3 turnovers, 5.9 steals, and 2.8­­ blocks per game.
 
UC-COLORADO SPRINGS MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Mountain Lions come off a split weekend, defeating RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands (81-78) and dropping to RMAC opponent Fort Lewis College (87-84).
  • UCCS goes into the weekend with an overall record of 11-7 and a conference record of 5-5. They average 78.4 points, 35.1 rebounds, 15.0 assists, 12.2 turnovers, 5.6 steals, and 8.8 blocks per game.  
  • Graduate William Becker paces the offense with 281 total points, averaging 15.6 ppg. Right behind him is sophomore Xavier Martinez with 220 points (12.2 ppg), then senior Hannes Saar with 196 points (10.9 ppg).
  • Becker leads UCCS in rebounds with 160 total (8.9 rpg), redshirt junior Jezza McKenzie is right behind pulling down 95 total rebounds (5.3 rpg).
  • Martinez is the front runner for assist and steals with 65 assists and 25 steals. Becker has recorded a total of 35 blocks on the season.
  • The Mountain Lions shoot 47.9% from the field, 30.5% from behind the arch and 75.5% from the charity stripe.

COLORADO CHRISTIAN MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Cougars are on a four-game losing streak. Most recently dropping to RMAC opponents Fort Lewis College (74-38) and Adams State University (80-75).
  • CCU goes into the weekend with an overall record of 7-11 and a conference record of 3-7. They average 68.6 points, 31.5 rebounds, 12.7 assists, 14.4 turnovers, 5.9 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game.  
  • Redshirt sophomore Bradley Land paces the offense with 267 total points, averaging 14.8 ppg. Right behind him is redshirt junior Schafer Reichart with 133 points (7.4 ppg), then sophomore Tate Odvody with 125 points (7.4 ppg).
  • Land leads CCU in rebounds with 92 total (5.1 rpg), Reichart is right behind pulling down 90 total rebounds (5.0 rpg).
  • Reichart is the front runner for assist and steals with 54 assists and 19 steals.
  • The Cougars shoot 47.2% from the field, 34.7% from behind the arch and 70.3% from the charity stripe.
