Gunnison, Colo., The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team hosts Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Colorado Mesa on Tuesday January 14th at 7:30pm then travels to Utah to take on Westminster University on Thursday January 16 at 7:30pm.
WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME| 2024-25 STATS
- WCU comes off a split weekend, dropping to RMAC opponent Fort Lewis (75-73) and defeating RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands (89-75). The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 5-9 and a conference record of 3-4.
- Versus FLC junior Chrisitan Still posted a career high and lead the offense with 25 points, going 9-11 from the field, 4-5 from behind the arch and 3-4 from the charity stripe while grabbing four boards. Senior Kade Juelfs followed with 16 points, going 4-8 from the field, 2-4 from three and 6-8 from the line.
- Junior Jamel Hollins secured 14 total rebounds, 6 offensive and 8 defensive, along with 2 assists and 3 points. Senior Nalik Veasley trailed with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
- The Mountaineers shot 47.3% from the field, 42.1% from three and 61.9% from the free throw line. WCU has 34 points in the paint and 34 bench points.
- Against NMHU junior Andrew Reichart led the offense with 21 points, going 9-10 from the field and 3-5 from the charity stripe. Senior Amar Rivers followed with 13, Juelfs recorded 11 and senior Trey Anderson and Sophomore Halligan respectively earned 10.
- Hollins pulled down 8 total boards, Anderson had 6 and Reichart and junior Trevin Lieck each had 5.
- Rivers helped the Mountaineers, recording 6 assists followed by Hollins who had 4 and Anderson, Juelfs, senior Spencer Wright, and Halligan whom all finished with 3.
- The Mountaineers shot 55.4% from the field, 42.3% from behind the arch and 66.7% from the free throw line.
- WCU had 27 bench points, 8 steals, 25 assists, 17 fastbreak points, 13 points off turnovers, 38 points in the paint, and 12 second chance points.
- Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 166 total points (12.8 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 143 total points (11.0 ppg). They are followed by sophomore Tyler Halligan, 130 total points (10 ppg), Reichart, 120 total points (9.2 ppg), and Anderson 105 total points (8.1 ppg).
- Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 93 total (7.2 rpg). Reichart follows with 62 total (4.8 rpg). Third is Rivers with 52 total (4.0 rpg).
- Buckmon leads the Mountaineers steals with 17 total. Rivers paces the Mountaineers with 28 assists and has earned 13 blocks on the season followed by Anderson who has accumulated 8 blocks.
- WCU averages 73.5 points per game, shoots 45.2% from the field, 32.6% from behind the arch, and 62.2% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers average 34.5 rebounds, 12.4 turnovers, 14.1 assists, 6.5 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game.

- Redshirt junior Ty Allred paces the offense with 206 total points, averaging 14.7 ppg. Right behind him is freshman Harvey White with 158 points (11.3 ppg), then freshman Will Mortimore with 154 points (11.0 ppg).

- WU goes into the weekend with an overall record of 9-5 and a conference record of 3-3. They average 81.1 points, 34.9 rebounds, 16.9 assists, 14.3 turnovers, 6.5 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game.
- Senior Chase Potter paces the offense with 234 total points, averaging 16.7 ppg. Right behind him is junior Simon Akena with 177 points (14.8 ppg), then sophomore Parker Christensen with 146 points (10.4 ppg).
- Potter leads WU in rebounds with 64 total (4.6 rpg), junior Jonah El-Farra is right behind pulling down 61 total rebounds (5.5 rpg).
- Christensen is the front runner for assist with 57 total while Potter has recorded 12 steals.
- The Griffins shoot 51% from the field, 37.7% from behind the arch and 74.7% from the charity stripe.
