COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Wednesday afternoon announced that Western Colorado's
Simon Kelati has been voted the league's men's track athlete of the week.
Kelati won the men's 1,500-meter run Saturday at the Chuck Haering Open Invite at CSU Pueblo, crossing the finish in a time of 3 minutes, 48.59 seconds, inching ahead of the NCAA provisional time of 3:48.91.
His official altitude adjusted time of 3:43.78 slots him into the No. 4 individual ranking among NCAA Division II runners in the event.
Kelati is continuing a year in which he earned All-American honors at the NCAA D-II cross country championship with a second-place finish, followed by another All-American honor by winning the 3,000m run at the NCAA D-II indoor track & field championship.
His next time on the track is expected to be at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., on April 11-13.
