CHADRON, Neb. Things went even better for Western Colorado on day two of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as they had two more champions, five total all-conference honors, and four runners moving on to the finals.

After day two, the men are currently in second-place (45-points) with seven events scored. The women are currently in fourth-place (38-point) with eight events scored.

The top-three finishers in each event are named all-conference first-team selections, while the fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers are tabbed all-conference second-team. For relay events, the first-place team is named to the first team and the second-place team is named to the second team.
 
RMAC CHAMPION

• Albert Hesse was spectacular in the men's 3000m steeplechase, as he left his competition in his dust and crossed the finish line first with a time of 9:09.45. That time was 4.91 seconds faster than second-place finisher Alex Shaw from Colorado School of Mines who came in at 9:14.36.
• Following the Mountaineers impressive outing in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, Allison Beasley made sure Western looked just as impressive in the women's 3,000m steeplechase. Beasley was flying around the track and crossed the finish line in first-place in a personal best and seventh all-time performance of 10:34.41.

FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

• Timothy Ellis earned himself a share of second-place in the men's pole vault, by clearing a height of 4.53m (14-10.25) on his first attempt.
• Similar to Ellis, Sammie Bretz earned herself a share of third-place in the women's high jump, by clearing a height of 1.61m (5-03.25) on her first attempt.

SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

• Tyler Nelson picked up three-points and second team all-conference honors in the men's discus, with a throw of 47.89m (157-01), which earned him sixth-place.

MOVING ON TO THE FINALS

• A pair of Mountaineers will be moving on to the finals in the men's 800m, after recording fourth and fifth-place finishes. Jeremy Killoy was the first Western runner to cross the line, coming in at a personal best time of 1:53.31. Right behind him was Ethan Coyhis who crossed the line with a time of 1:53.49.
• Emma Kjellsen will be heading to the finals in the women's 800m, coming in at a time of 2:13.57, which earned her eighth-place.
• Earning a personal best time in the women's 100m hurdles, Eireann Donohoe crossed the finish line in 15.13 earning eighth-place.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

• Scoring three-points for the Mountaineers in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, Michael Grabowski came in seventh (9:31.64) and Kyle Partin close behind in eighth (9:34.37).
• Scoring two-points and crossing the finish line in a personal best time, Haley Wood came in seventh-place in the women's 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 11:34.80.
• Eireann Donohoe earned the Mountaineers 1.5 points in the women's high jump, by clearing a height of 1.56m (5-01.25) which ended up tying for seventh-place.

TOP TEN ALL-TIME

• Cora Olson was flying down the track in the women's 200m, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 25.08. That time puts Olson at ninth all-time.

 Western Colorado will attempt to keep their trend - of getting better by the day - going tomorrow as they wrap up the RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow (Apr. 30). The Mountaineers will be in action starting at 9:30 a.m., competing in the men's javelin.
