GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Western Colorado had a solid end to the CMU Invite #2, being highlighted by seven athletes earning personal best marks – one of those marks being a top-ten all-time performance. As a whole the Mountaineers had 30 top-five finishes.
TOP-TEN ALL-TIME
- Lindsey Osterfelt joined the top-ten all-time list of in the women's discus, with personal best throw of 42.39m (139-01). That mark puts her at ninth all-time and earned her second-place.
TOP-FIVE FINISHES
- Ismael Dembele out leaped his competition to a first-place finish in the men's triple jump, recording a distance of 14.91m (48-11.00).
- Myia Dantzler was the first runner to cross the finish line in the women's 100m, blazing down the track in a time of 11.99. A few spots down in fourth-place was Mikayla Hutchison who finished in a personal best time of 12.41.
- In the men's discus, a throw of 49.70m (163-01) from Tyler Nelson earned him the top spot among his competition. Blaine Fisher finished a few spots down in third-place. That third-place finish came by Fisher recording a personal best throw of 45.41m (149-0).
- Ali Aldrich did her thing per usual in the women's shot put, coming in first-place with a heave of 14.35m (47-01.00). Myles Hilbert also cracked the top-five in the event, finishing in fifth-place with a mark of 10.74m (35-03.00).
- Bringing home the gold in the men's 4x400m relay – Ethan Beevers, Jeremy Killoy, Dillon Copeland and Noe Garcia paced the Mountaineers to a first-place finish, crossing the finish line in a time of 3:22.95.
- Recording a personal best time in the men's 800m, Killoy emptied the tank and came in second-place in a time of 1:54.12.
- Karter Evans and Cole Caskey earned top-five finishes in the men's shot put. Evans coming in third-place with a heave of 14.84m (48-08.25) and Caskey in fifth-place with a mark of 13.21m (43-04.25).
- The Mountaineers earned three of the top-five finishes in the women's 400m – Kiarra Lapp being the first Western runner to cross the finish line in second-place (58.18). In fourth-place was Abbey Mohan (1:00.14) and she was followed by Bella Miller in fifth-place (1:05.62).
- Mohan also competed in the women's 800m, where she came in fifth-place in a time of 2:19.74.
- Similar to the women's 100m, Western earned two top-five finishes in the women's 200m. Sakara Harrison flew down the track and crossed the finish line in third-place (25.34) and was followed by Cora Olson two spots down in fifth (25.60).
- Olson also competed in the women's triple jump, bounding to a distance of 10.75m (35-03.25), earning her fourth-place.
- Earning a personal best time and third-place in the men's 400m hurdles, Beevers crossed the finish line in a time of 56.59. Copeland also competed in the race and finished a few spots down coming in fifth-place (58.65).
- On her final attempt at the 1.65m mark in the women's high jump, Sammie Bretz managed to clear that height and earn a third-place finish.
- Ja'Warren Smith recorded a personal best time of 49.14 in the men's 400m, which resulted in him coming in second-place. Smith also came in second-place (22.09) in the men's 200m.
- Competing alongside Smith in the men's 200m was Eric Fike, who came in fifth-place in a time of 22.41.
- Clara Tuti earned bronze in the women's 100m hurdles, passing the finish line in a time of 15.63.
- In his debut in the men's 1,500m, Robert Scott earned a fourth-place finish coming in at a time of 3:59.38.
- Anders Covey came in fourth-place in the men's 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 15.47.
- Dulce Carlos recorded a fifth-place finish in her collegiate debut in the women's 1,500m, crossing the line in a time of 4:56.59.
- Dominic Anselmo earned a fifth-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing a height of 1.90m (6-02.75).
