PUEBLO, Colo. Western Colorado faced some stiff Division I competition at the CSU Pueblo Spank Blasing Invite, however, they held their own against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) competition as they recorded 24 top-five performances, three provisional qualifying and two top-ten all-time performance.
NCAA PROVISIONAL QUALIFYING MARKS
- Ismael Dembele did his thing in the men's triple jump, coming in second-place with a provisional qualifying bound of 14.70m (48-02.75). Dembele also competed in the long jump, where he had the fifth best performance against RMAC competition with a mark of 6.81m (22-04.25).
- Allison Beasley picked up a third-place finish (second-best among RMAC competition) in the women's 1,500m, crossing the finish line in a provisional qualifying time of 4:32.02 (Converted from 4:37.87). Beasley also had the fifth best finish against RMAC runners in the women's 800m with a time of 2:18.71.
- Moving up one spot to fourth all-time, Lauren Smith cleared a provisional qualifying height of 3.74m (12-03.25) in the women's pole vault, earning her fourth-place.
TOP-TEN ALL TIME MARK
- Ali Aldrich moved up to seventh all-time in the women's shot put, with a heave of 12.95m (42-06.00). That mark was the fourth best performance against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition. Aldrich also had the fourth best mark in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 44.58m (146-03).
TOP-THREE FINISHES
- Jacob Hernandez was cruising around the track in the men's 5,000m, leading to him coming in second-place in a time of 15:08.69.
- The women's 4x100m relay – Mikayla Hutchison, Jada Hynds, Cora Olson, Myia Dantzler – picked up their first of many top-three finishes, coming in third-place in a time of 48.86.
- In the women's 800m, Leah Taylor emptied the tank on her way to a third-place finish (2:15.39).
- In the men's high jump, Caden Church's clearance of 1.95m (6-04.75), earned him third place (second-best among RMAC competition).
MOUNTAINEER TOP FIVE FINISHES AGAINST RMAC COMPETITION
- Going against Division I athletes, several Mountaineers had solid performances at the Spank Blasing Invite when separating out and looking how they did against RMAC competition.
- The Mountaineers had a solid performance in the women's 5,000m, recording three top-five finishes. Olivia Kaiser was first to cross the line (18:48.88) against her RMAC competitors, then a few spots down was Emma Berg (19:02.74) and Lacey Kunz (19:33.35).
- In the men's 1,500m, Tyler Nord had the second-best finish crossing the line in a time of 3:59.52 and was followed by Albert Hesse who had the fourth best finish (4:05.47).
- Western had the second and third best performance in the women's 200m. Sakara Harrison crossed the line first in a time of 26.67 and was followed by Myia Dantzler who came in at 26.87.
- In the men's discus, Tyler Nelson recorded the third best performance, recording a distance of 46.01m (150-11). Similar to Nelson, Lindsey Osterfelt also had the third best performance with a toss of 39.83m (130-08).
- Sean House had the fourth best performance, recording a distance of 45.89m (159-06), in the men's javelin.
- Recording a time of 2:01.56, Aidan Scott had the fourth best performance in the men's 800m.
- DJ Allen Jr had the fourth best finish in the 400m hurdle, flying over the hurdles and crossing the finish line in a time of 57.55.
- In the women's long jump, Dani Socarras leap of 3.32m (10-10.75) was the fourth best performance in the event.
- Olson had a fifth best performance in the women's triple jump, leaping to a distance of 10.67m (35-00.25).
- In the men's 5,000m Kyle Partin had the fifth-best performance, crossing the line in a time of 15:22.23.
- Logan Butterfield had the fifth best performance in the men's hammer, with a toss of 48.21m (158-02).
