LAS VEGAS, N.M. / PUEBLO, Colo. Coming off two tough loses this past weekend, Western Colorado will look to get back on track when they take on New Mexico Highlands (Jan. 13) and Colorado State University Pueblo (Jan. 14).

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATSÂ | RMAC STATS | RMAC STANDINGS
- Western was very close to continuing their winning streak this past weekend. But, they came up a few points short in both games – losing 52-55 to Black Hills State and 52-54 to South Dakota Mines. With the two losses, the Mountaineers move to 11th place (3-5) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.
- Offensively, Western has the 15th ranked offense in the RMAC, scoring 57-points in RMAC contest. Emmery Wagstaff has been one of the main scorers for the Mountaineers averaging 14.4-points (eighth in RMAC) and Rachel Cockman has also been a threat on offense, averaging 12.6-points (15th in RMAC). At the free throw line, Wagstaff leads the way for Western shooting 82.4 percent (sixth in RMAC) and is followed by Cockman shooting 70 percent (12th in RMAC) and Hayley Valencia shooting 61.7 percent (15th in RMAC).
- The Mountaineers have one of the best defenses in the RMAC, only giving up 60-points in RMAC contest. Tied for 15th in rebounding, Valencia has a team high 6.1 rebounds and not too far behind Brooklyn Seymour has 5.9 rebound, which is 17th in the RMAC. Scoring in the paint doesn't come easy when playing the Western, enlarge part due to Cockman who is third in the RMAC in blocks with 1.1 in RMAC contest.
- As a whole, the Mountaineers make 41.3 percent from the field (third in RMAC), 30.5 percent from three (tenth in RMAC), and 69.9 percent from the free throw line (seventh in RMAC).
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Things haven't been going well for the Cowgirls lately, losing their last four games – their two recent loses, coming against MSU Denver (51-62) and No. 10 Colorado School of Mines (48-79). At the moment, New Mexico Highlands sits in 12th place (3-7) in the RMAC standings.
- In the scoring department, the Cowgirls have the eighth ranked offense scoring 61.8-points in RMAC contest. The duo of Juliana Aragon and Aja Scott, have done the majority of the scoring for New Mexico Highlands this year, Aragon scoring 14.7-points (seventh in RMAC) and Scott recording 11.1-points (20th in RMAC). Aragon is the leading field goal and free throw percentage shooter for New Mexico Highlands, making 45.9 percent (seventh in RMAC) from the field and 81.8 percent (seventh in RMAC) from the line. Two spots down, Delani Harris makes 75.7 percent (ninth in RMAC) from the free throw line.
- On defense, the Cowgirls enter the weekend with the 11th ranked defense giving up 67.3-points. Leading the team in rebounds, Scott grabs 7.8 boards (tied for sixth in RMAC) and is followed by Neysa Munguia who grabs 7.4 (seventh in RMAC). Munguia also makes her presence felt in the paint, blocking 0.9 shots (tied for fifth in RMAC). Aragon and Scott also are solid at blocking shot each blocking 0.5 shots (tied for eighth in RMAC). Scott is also a good when it comes to creating turnovers, stealing the ball 1.5 times (tied for tenth in RMAC). Not too far down, Krystina Hagood has been averaging 1.3 steals (tied for 12th in RMAC). Â Â
- As a whole, New Mexico Highlands shoots 36.4 percent from the field (12th in RMAC), 31.2 percent from three (seventh in RMAC), and 72.4 percent from the free throw line (fourth in RMAC).
THUNDERWOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Similar to the Cowgirls, CSU Pueblo has been on a three-game losing streak as of late – losing their last two games against No. 10 Colorado School of Mines (58-94) and MSU Denver (42-58). Despite losing three games straight, the Thunderwolves are currently in sixth-place (5-4) in the RMAC standings.
- Scoring 63.9-points in RMAC contest, CSU Pueblo has the sixth ranked offense. Charisse Fairley has been the go to scorer for the Thunderwolves, dropping 14.2-points in RMAC contest. Fairley is also leading the team in field goal and three-point percentage, shooting 41.2 percent from the field (eighth in RMAC) and 35.9 percent from three (sixth in RMAC).
- Defensively, CSU Pueblo has the 12th ranked defense in the RMAC giving up 67.8-points. Similar to the offensive side, Fairley leads the team in rebounding grabbing 6.6 boards (13th in RMAC). JaNaiya Davis is sixth in the RMAC in terms of causing turnovers, stealing the ball 2.3 times in RMAC contest. Â
- As a whole, the Thunderwolves shoots 39.4 percent from the field (sixth in the RMAC), 36.4 percent from three (first in RMAC) and 70.5 percent from the free throw line (sixth in the RMAC).Â
