GUNNISON, Colo. The Mountaineers got back on track this week when they defeated Colorado Christian (Feb. 2), and now will look to build on that when they take on University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (Feb. 4) and New Mexico Highlands University (Feb. 5) at home in Paul Wright Gymnasium.

MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Western may have to take on the Mountain Lions and Cowgirls without their two leading scorers this weekend – Samantha Coleman missing the last three games, and Grace Kirscher getting hurt last game. However, the Mountaineers showed against Colorado Christian that they are a deep team that has players who can step up and rise to the occasion when their number is called.
  • Emmery Wagstaff and Natalie Jojola stepped up against the Cougars scoring 18 and 14-points, as Western snapped their losing streak and defeated Colorado Christian 80-72.
  • While the main scorers may be gone, Katie Dalton is still in the lineup and has shown throughout the season she can be a force in the paint. Dalton is averaging 10.3-points per game, on 56.8 percent shooting from the field and 70.8 percent shooting from the free throw line.
  • Over the last three games, the Mountaineers have scored 53.3 points per game, while giving up 63-points. Western is currently in seventh place (7-6) in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with nine games left to play.
MOUNTAIN LIONS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • UCCS is coming off a tough 73-71 loss to South Dakota Mines (Jan. 29) an will try to get back on track when they play the Mountaineers. The Mountain Lions currently sit in 10th place in the RMAC standings.
  • Jasmine Jeffcoat, Ellie Moore, Shelby Megyeri and Jessica Nation are the leading scorers for UCCS averaging, 8.8, 8.7, 8.4 and 8.2-points. Jeffcoat has the best field goal percentage out of the bunch, shooting 51.9 percent.
  • Moore and Megyeri are also factors on the defensive end, averaging 1.2 (No. 8 RMAC) blocked shots, while Megyeri steals the ball on average 1.3 times (No. 25 RMAC) per game.  
  • The Mountain Lions have the 13th ranked offense scoring 59-points and the sixth ranked defense allowing teams to score 60.5 points.
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • New Mexico Highlands has had a rough season so far, losing their last four games, putting them in last place (1-12) in the RMAC standings.
  • Jordyn Lewis is the main player for the Cowgirls averaging 13-points per game, shooting 33.1 percent shooting from the field, 37.9 percent (No. 5 RMAC) from three and 80 percent (No. 9 RMAC) from the free throw line.
  • Defensively, Sana'a Baker and Maiah Rivas are ones to look out for, Baker blocking 1.8 shots (No. 3 RMAC) per game and Rivas stealing the ball 1.8 (No. 12 RMAC) times per game.
  • New Mexico Highlands has the 15th ranked offense and defense, scoring 53-points while giving up 73.2-points.

Western will hit the road for their next four games - starting on Friday, Feb. 11 when they take on Regis University at 5 p.m. and then will head to Golden, Colo., to play Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.
